....

"Akatsuki Y/N!"

You sat on the floor in the biggest room of the dojo, stretching your legs quietly. It was the midst of the summer months. Your hair had gotten considerably long, so you had it tied back. You glanced over your shoulder at the demon who padded into the room and knelt next to you.

"The sun's down. Let's fight!" He smiled broadly, but you could sense there was a hidden somber tone to it.

"Alright, give me a moment," you murmured before you continued to stretch. When you stood, you stretched your arms.

He walked out the building once you were on your feet, giving himself a good amount of distance from the dojo. He rolled his shoulders as he watched you come out. "I won't be holding back today, okay? You're strong enough to handle it." He mused

You nodded slowly, though you weren't too sure of yourself. You didn't know if he ever had gone all out on you before. You shifted into a fighting position, and in that instance he bounded towards you.

His fist came for your face, but you caught it and hit him square in the stomach. He laughed as he skid back.

"Impressive." He said simply. You watched as his demeanor changed to a more sinister one. He shifted his position, and a snowflake shaped compass appears beneath his feet.

He was going to be using his blood demon arts on you?

You took a deep breath, 'he wasn't kidding about going all out.' Your thoughts were cut off by his presence as he swung for your diaphragm. Even though you swerved out of the way, you were launched back by the shockwave that came with the speed of his movements.

He didn't give you a moment to ground yourself, kicking you down before you could land yourself. "Come on Akatsuki! Give me everything!" He shouted at you.

You huffed as you bounced back to your feet, his fists coming at you relentlessly. You managed to calm your nerves enough to see his direction, and deflected. While he recoiled after the seventh punch,  you ducked and grabbed hold of his arm, yanking it down and foward hard.

He momentarily flipped, but shifted to come after you again, only to be met by your fists, successfully getting some distance between you two. You were genuinely starting to wonder if he had the intent to kill you.

"Y/N! I don't see an ounce of fear in you! Your battle will is exceedingly strong!" He called to you before bounding after you again, leaving a crater in his wake.

You brought your hands up to deflect him, swinging back relentlessly as he did the same. Akaza brought his leg up quickly and kicked you in your chest, causing you to launch back.

You caught yourself before you hit the fence. Sweat was beading down your face as his foot neared it, the shock knocking you back into the air again. His speed was truly something else. His fist came for your stomach, but you managed to bring your leg back and kick him in his jaw, causing you to flip before landing.

"Shit," you wheezed looking up as Akaza rubbed his chin.

"Y/N, you've gotten much stronger than when we first me-" he started, his eyes widened when he realized you managed to avert his attention, even if it was just a moment, to get in closer and strike him in his diaphragm. His hand gripped your fist in disbelief, looking down at you with an excited, but sort of bittersweet smile.

You dropped your hand and shifted back slightly. Your chest heaved as you brought yourself down from your adrenaline induced movements.

"Akatsuki Y/N, you're ready to become a demon," he balled up his hand into a fist, smiling more. "I can't wait to fight with you more!"

You froze. So, this is what this fight was about. You had felt this day was approaching. You spent your recent weeks just basking in the sun, as if giving it's warmth a somber goodbye, but this truly was it. Though, you never expected the goodbye to be now.

"Well Done," he bowed to you with pure respect.

"Really...?" You asked quietly, in a bit of disbelief. He opened his mouth to assure you, but was cut off by a faint crackle that then turned into a loud bang.

Fireworks.

You both looked up at the sky, "is there a celebration today?" You wondered aloud. Moments later, another firework went off.  The rate that they went into the sky slowly increased. You were a bit mesmerized by them, to the point that the demon managed to catch you off guard and lift you by your waist.

"Akaza kun?!" You yelped as he laughed and and carried you towards the dojo. He kicked himself off the ground and onto the roof, sitting you next to him once he was settled.

"You'll see them better up here," He pointed out, propping his arm up on his knee and his head up on his hand. You nodded slowly as you leaned back to look at the sky.

A twinge of sadness over took you as you realized this was the first time you were looking on them without your brother. Despite that, it felt nostalgic in a different way, like you've watched fireworks with Akaza before,  but you knew that wasn't true.

As colors blasted across the dark sky, you began to think back on what he had asked you months ago. It wasn't like you hadn't thought about it since. You genuinely wanted an answer for him. You knew two things, you didn't wish to die soon, and you wanted to be with Akaza. He was basically the closest thing you had to family at this point.

Like the fireworks hit the sky, the thing you wanted hit you. You looked down from where your gaze had settled and turned your head to the demon. You were surprised to see he hadn't been watching the sky this whole time, but you. He blinked when you looked at him.

"Ah...Akaza," you stammered, flustered now that you realized you were the subject of his attention before you even said anything.

"Yes, Y/N?" He inquired,  a smile curling onto his lips.

You looked down briefly, "I've thought about what I wanted before you turn me." You took a deep breath. "I lost practically everything... I thought I was going to be alone before showed up. I don't want you to only seek me out to fight when I'm a demon, s-so, I want you to be my husband." You gripped the ends of your jinbei, your gaze shooting down. "That way I know you won't completely leave me, even if you aren't around me all the time."

He was quiet. Something about this prodded at his brain, the situation being vaguely familiar. He gradually snapped out of his daze before nodding slowly.

"Okay. Then I'll be your husband, Y/N."

You don't know why, but you expected him to say no.
