Saying things we can't take back

(A/N : Can you guess which Zayn song I'm referencing? If yes, then you're the bomb!)

"Camilla and Zayn, will you two please come here," Miss Butler said. I looked over my shoulder at Zayn - who had been ignoring me for the past week- before I reluctantly stood up. "I just wanted to say well done! You got an A+ for your presentation," Butler beamed. Zayn and I looked at each other, and I caught a glimpse of a smile on his face. We hurried back to our desks when Miss Butler called the next pair.

The air was surprisingly warm as I stepped onto the green grass. The sky was cloudless, something that had never happened over the few weeks that I'd lived in Riverview ( I was beginning to think I had moved to Forks). I had only been on this side of the school once. Zayn and his friends sat at the bleachers by the sports field, laughing at some lame joke. "Who's idea was it again to eat lunch outside?" I asked as I sat down on a metal bench, placing my lunch on the metal table. "Adam's," Priscilla answered. "About the party, are you still not coming?"
"Yes," I nodded, a little exasperated. "Where's Adam?"
"He's coming. Can you remind me again why you can't come? I really busted my ass to get us invited."
Adam arrived, sitting on the bench next to me, and draped his arm over my shoulder. I blinked, wondering why he didn't sit next to Cilla. From the look on her face, I figured she was wondering the same thing too. "What are you up to?" Adam asked and I noticed that he hadn't spared Priscilla a glance.

Awkward.

"Not much," I popped a fry into my mouth. "I was wondering if you'd like to come to my match this Saturday," Adam said.
"Match? You play soccer?" I wasn't even aware there was a soccer team at our school.
"Yes duh," he rolled his eyes. "Will you come?"
"I'll think about. Is Cilla coming?"
" Does she want to come?" His whole demeanor changed. Okay, something was wrong with those two. "I don't know, ask her," I tilted my head towards Priscilla. From the corner of my eye, I could see Zayn stand up from afar. I turned and watched him approach our table, mentally marvelling at how good he looked without a jacket on. The slight breeze blew my hair into my face, and I tucked it behind my ear. Zayn and I locked eyes, and the intensity of his gaze unravelled me. It unravelled me so much that I had to look away, uncomfortably. His eyes always communicated a message- sometimes good, sometimes bad. I was usually good at reading people but him? Well reading him is tantamount to lift an airplane (Ignore the weird comparison. I just wanted to get my point across). Hard. "Hey man," Adam smiled at Zayn. Hey man? Why did he sound so....I really couldn't pinpoint what caused the shiver in his tone. Was he nervous? Afraid? Or maybe excited to be seen with the cafeteria king? "Hey. Do you wanna come sit with us?" Zayn motioned to his group. What? I noticed that Zayn avoided looking at me, his eyes landing everywhere but on me. "Uhm..."Adam looked indecisive. "Are you cool with me leaving?" He asked me instead of Cilla. I cleared my throat awkwardly, a little taken aback. Zayn's honey eyes flickered to my face for a spilt second. "Yeah, sure. Go," I smiled weakly. I could feel Priscilla's scorching gaze, and I avoided looking in her direction all together. Her glare was already burning holes into my skin as it was. Adam was up in seconds. I watched him and Zayn walk away, arms over each other's shoulders. Since when are they friends?

A/N

This is not my best work, so I'm really sorry. I feel like this chapter was boring and terribly written but.....I have no excuse. I'm a terrible editor so feel free to point out any mistakes 💋

Anywaaay...how are you enjoying the story? Why do you think Zayn has suddenly taken interest in Adam? Any theories?

P.S: if you hadn't guessed which song I was referencing  in the title of this.....terribly written chapter, it was BETTER. Check it out, it's a nice song.

Bye❤️
