Julia was not expecting to see the Avengers mosying around her living room at six in the morning.

"Oh." she stated blankly, her memory coming back to her in a flash. "Ya'll are still here."

"Yes?" Tony raised his brow, "Where else would we be?"

She shrugged, "Honestly I had no clue. Sorta thought it was a dream."

Sighing, she looked down at her outfit, baggy gray camo jeans, black combat boots and a black turtleneck. And of course her lucky necklace.

The necklace in question was a silver pendant with a horse on it, the cord to tie it around her neck was a small strip of brown leather. It looked pretty rustic, which was why she wore it so often. It was the only thing she had to remember the one person who she'd never forget.

Walking sort-of lazily to the kitchen-counter, (which, in reality, she was trying to hide her limp), she sat down. Gwen slid her a plate of eggs and she smiled gratefully.

"So," Tony started, "Mrs. Sandman. Poof us back to the land of the living please."

Julia choked on her food. "E-Excuse me?!"

"What happened to being subtle?" Gamora sassed.

"Wait- hold on." Julia interrupted, "It doesn't even work like that! And did you seriously just reference the Guardians?"

Gwen looked up softly from across the room. Julia gave her a hard stare, as if telling her to 'stay quiet'. Rolling her eyes Gwen mouthed 'eventually'.

Julia sighed, "I'm sorry- the only thing I can do for you guys is communicate with the living."

The room fell silent, and the guilt from the harsh lie she gave practically ate at her insides.

"Maybe-" Julia bit out, "Maybe tomorrow I can try and contact your families. It's all I can do."

Tony's eyes lit up. Nat's head shot up from her book to look at her. Nebula nudged Gamora's shoulder and smiled. Vision and Pietro gave each other a knowing glance. Steve and Peggy looked around at them with solemn gazes.

She sighed- maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all.

When the door finally shut behind Julia, signaling that she'd left for school that day, the Avengers sat in silence.

"I'm sorry about her." Gwen smiled softly, "She's usually a lot friendlier, it's just that she doesn't trust as easily. Not anymore."

"What do you mean by that?" Steve asked from the couch.

Gwen looked fondly at the door, "She'll tell you that on her own time."

There was another pause before Natasha spoke up.

"What you said earlier," she questioned, "-about her finally making friends, what did you mean by that?"

Gwen glanced towards her, surprised. "Well, she's had some extreme social anxiety for as long as I can remember."

She bit her lip, walking around the kitchen island, "I think it's getting better." Gwen pondered, "-she said she was making some friends this year."

Natasha stood up suddenly, "I think she's lying.."

Gwen looked up, "How can you tell?"

Nat sighed, "Before you had gotten here yesterday, I caught her in the bathroom. She was wrapping up an awful yellow and purple bruise on her shin. If I'm right, she's either getting into a lot of street fights, or she's being bullied."
