A six-year-old Julia hopped down the stairs of her 'new house' in search of something to eat. She wasn't fazed to see the young girl propped up on the counter, thinking that maybe the Huff's had forgotten to mention they had a daughter. It was actually a more common mistake than you think it'd be.
Julia's bare feet padded lightly across the hardwood flooring as she made her way around the kitchen island, which was taller than her, and to the walk-in pantry. She looked up to see various items like fruit cups, saltine crackers, and applesauce. All of which could not satisfy her ever-increasing hunger for junk food.
Skipping around the kitchen, she searched low and- well, mostly low. She was too short to reach anything of importance. It wasn't until she tried to reach for the cupboard behind her when she realized something was off.
"Excuse me." Julia started, her voice soft and uncertain. "I need to reach into the cupboard."
But apparently the other toddler in the room was too interested in her Cheetos to care.
"Excuse me?" she said a bit louder, finally gaining the latter's attention. The girls' head quickly snapped up to meet hers, shock and confusion hidden in her calm facial demeanor. Her blonde hair caught in the light of the evening, giving her an ethereal glow. She almost looked paranormal, but Julia shook her head. Ghosts' weren't visible to humans. But still, she thought it odd, before brushing off the feeling.
Again, Julia motioned for her to move away from the cupboard, but the girl was frozen like a deer in headlights.
"Hello?" she asked, waving her hand in front of the girls' face. Sighing as she realized that she'd probably broken the poor girl, she tried to reach around her to open the cubby.
Realizing she was too short to access the surprisingly low-set cupboard, she hobbled over to the stool she'd seen on her way in. Picking up the plastic object, she made her way back over to where the toddler was, while she continued to stare blankly at Julia.
The expression completely going over her head, she realized the girl she was facing was around her age.
Softly setting the stool down, she opened the cupboard swiftly- making sure to not hit the girls' head - and grabbed a small bag of sour cream and onion crackers. Going up on her tippy toes - plus the addition of the wobbly stool - was hard to do, so when her ankle gave out, she'd expected her arm to hit the girl's shoulder- but that wasn't what she felt.
Looking up, she realized that her entire arm was impaling the small girl, who was now staring at her with glee.
"Y-You can see me?"
