Don't you think I get bored especially at night
Looking from above with such dim light
Given so much power I control the tides
Giving surfers the next day some joyous rides
I watch you humans all night too
Of course who'd you'd think its me the old moon
I come out around evening just to see her face
Her radiant glow I must embrace
How could one from below not enjoy this pleasure
Her sunset you call it, a glorious treasure.
I only get to see her finally act
As her rays brighten the sky before turning black
I praise her in the distance, it's always a delight
How she paints a portrait of colors before retiring for the night
Oh how I long for she sun, I'd play her my fiddle
But everytime I get close, the earth comes in the middle
And then I, like humans in a love, such a shame
Someone always there to block the way
You humans sit nightly you cry and you stare
Why at me ? I wonder Why the hell should I care?
You lose and you win and in love it's the same
If you fall out of love, who is to blame?
But some way over in the middle of Cali
Over hill and treacherous valleys
A pretty girl cries in a red velvet dress
Her tears get louder, she seems distressed.
She whispered a sentence and it slipped off her a tongue
On hearing the news the old moon frowned.
The daisy in her hand crushed against her breast
The last thing he gave Her,lies peacefully on the chest
Her mind starts to wonder, about the soldier she missed
The long dreary days he'd end with a kiss
And with a thumb and an eyelid closed.
I vanish into the abyss,
Poof, but nobody knows
That he taught you this trick before he left for war
By looking at the old moon, he's never too far
The girl's poor predicament made me feel sad
She Young in love had it so bad
Me and her had some common qualities in hind sight
So I went to her window and shone her some light
Hopefully I'd help comfort her cause I seemed to care
As my tears flow softly and fill the spring air
As my heart grew heavy no more Pain could it bear
Another night without the sun
And a pretty girl's lover who could die by a gun.
So I picked up myself and pondered and sighed
We all are in love, we all have died
The old moon and the humans have so much alike
No wonder they sit and talk to me at night
I started to care about the humans down there
And I whispered silently I the old moon will always be here.
