I woke up to beeping sounds in my ear and a bright light shining through my eyelids. I opened them slowly to see a giant window the sun bright on my face. This was definitely not my room.
I looked around the room and saw a few chairs on my left and on my right a monitor beeping to the sound of my heart.
I sat up in the bed and rubbed my eyes. Suddenly the door opened and a young nurse, a brunette, in about her mid to late twenties came in. "Good morning. My name is Janet. I'll be checking up on you every once-in-a-while to check your heart rate and other stuff you'll think is boring. So you are Kaleb Costel, right?" she asked and I nodded my head. "Alright then. Your friends and family are in the waiting room a few doors down. Would you like them to come in?" I nodded again and she gently pushed me back. "Lay down. You still need a lot of rest and water but the doctor said you can only talk to people for about an hour and then go back to sleep."
When the brunette finished talking she turned on her heals and walked out the door. I quickly tried to remember what had happened and why I was there. In a quick moment I saw the flash of Kat crying and screaming and being dragged away. Maybe it was just a dream. She'll be with the others and she came to visit me, I thought.
Then the door opened slightly, someone slowly and gently pushing it forward. I saw a small smile coming from the girls face, but it wasn't Kat.
"Hey. How ya feeling?" Shelby asked dragging a chair and sitting next to me.
"I- I'm fine. What am I doing here? What happened? Where's Kat?" I asked rubbing my forehead. Headache bothered me.
"Well at the party we heard Kat screaming. So we ran out and saw you lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood. We called the police and ran around the corner to see Jacobs car screeching down the road. Kat's hand was hitting against the window. So we have no idea where Kat is, and you almost died. Nice to know right?" sarcasm showed in Jennifers voice.
So it wasn't a dream. Kat's gone. And there's no way of finding her. Unless... "Did you file a missing or kidnappings report or something?" I suddenly asked.
"Well since Kat is not eighteen yet, we had to file a missing child's report," it was Stephanie's turn to talk.
"Okay but where's my mom and Kat's mom?"
"Your mom just left to go to the police station with Kat's mom to give a description of Jacob." Shelby answered. "She said she'll visit you later. But right now she's trying to comfort Kat's mom and sister."
"Okay. Thanks for coming guys. By the way, what happened to your mouth." I pointed to Michael.
"Why did you almost die?" He questioned back. "I mean seriously you were about to leave me with a bunch of girls." I laughed.
The girls all turned around and slapped his arm. "Oww. Specifically strong ones." This time only Shelby slapped him but upside the head. "AND MY GIRLFRIEND. YA HAPPY NOW?"
"Yes very." Shelby answered. I laughed harder as he made a mad pouty face at her.
In that moment, I wished that Kat could be there. Laughing with me and comforting me. But she wasn't. For a second, I saw her. The next... she was gone. Out of my reach. I wished I could stretch my hand out to her and she would take it. I felt her take it. It was only my perception. Her hand dissolved into thin air. She was gone. This was reality. The difference between perception and reality. I wished and hoped, but all I could do was wish and hope. In that very moment as I laid on the hospital bed, I could see and feel Kat. But once again she disappeared and I faded back to reality.
OMG I couldn't take the end of this chapter. I actually cried while reading over it again. (Yes I am that emotionally unstable.) Next chapter will be in Kat's P.O.V. Sorry for another sad ending but good news the story will get better soon. Thank you for reading and if you liked this chapter please comment and vote. I really do love and appreciate that you are all supporting me by reading this book.♥
P.S. I am currently writing a new book but it won't come out until the book is finished. So don't even try to look for it. Its called Insecureties.
