Chapter Eight

It was a few days later, when I was chilling on the couch. Ethan was off editing, and Maitland and Bailey were streaming in their room. Karl had agreed to stay home for a few days, for my sake. Now, he was upstairs in our room. I was idly watching TV, when a text came on my phone. I checked, and it was from Karl.

Hey, Y/N, do you want to come upstairs and stream with me?

I thought about this request. I still didn't really like the idea of being famous, and going on Karl's stream would undoubtably make that happen very quickly.

I'm okay. I'm not ready to be in the spotlight yet.

Aw :( I won't tell the viewers your name, or even tell them your socials. They'll have no idea who you are. Please?

I sighed. I guess, if they didn't know my name, there'd be no way for them to find me anywhere, right?

Ugh, fine! Coming.

I smirked slightly, shutting off the TV as I headed upstairs to the room we shared. I opened the door, to see him at his desk, with Streamlabs open.
"There you are. Ready to start?"
I shook my head. "Nope. But I never will be, so let's get this party started."
Karl smirked, as he turned to his screen and began the stream. I ducked behind his chair to stay out of sight for now.

"Hello!" Karl said, greeting everyone. "Hey, everyone!"
There was a few moments silence, before he started speaking again.
"Alright, everyone, I've got a special guest here today." He turned his chair to give me a nod, and I slowly poked my head up to glance at the camera. I smirked, standing up as I pulled another chair from across the room to sit beside Karl.
"This is my friend, and new roommate," Karl said to the viewers. "She doesn't want to be famous just yet, so I won't give you her name, but here she is on stream!"

I inched forward slightly, watching as the stream chat went a mile a minute. It was going so fast, I could hardly read anything.
"Hey, everyone." I said softly, waving slightly to the camera. As I kept watching the chat, I began seeing a pattern of messages.

Is she your girlfriend?!

I smirked, but I felt my face grow hot as I read those insane chats. I think Karl noticed them too, because he gave a small, nervous-sounding chuckle.
"You've got it all wrong guys," he said. "She isn't my girlfriend at all. Just my roommate." I nodded eagerly in agreement.

The rest of the stream was spent talking to the viewers and just chilling. I had to admit, it was sort of fun to be on stream. Karl, bless his heart, made sure to not use my name at all during the stream, for which I was very thankful.

Finally, the stream ended, and I relaxed back on the chair. I was feeling starved, and so I got up. "I'm gonna get a snack." I mentioned, as I idly glanced at my phone while walking.

Because I wasn't paying attention, I hadn't noticed that Milo had come into the room, and was milling around my feet. I briefly saw his shape, and flinched, startled. He had twisted around my legs, and so I tripped, losing my balance. I shut my eyes, preparing for the fall. When I suddenly felt myself stop falling, I opened my eyes.

My heart did a little flip when I realized that Karl had caught me. He had caught me by the side, and I was half looking up at him. "Careful," he murmured softly. My heart was thrashing when I realized how close we were. I could feel my face going hot as I stared up into Karl's eyes. He pulled me upright with surprising strength, also blushing slightly.
