The bond. book 1

Chapter 15

A year went by and things relatively went back to the way it used to be. Erza, Gray and Lucy with Happy were still a team. After that night with her and Happy, they decided to not sit at home anymore and try to get on with their new lives which their other teammates were overjoyed to hear knowing their team wasn't over. Nashi went with them on jobs. 

Lucy had become determined to spend as much time with her watching her grow as she could. As long as no one brought up Natsu , Lucy was pretty much back to herself but if someone brought him up, she would go into silence or her face would start to get upset because she would not stand for anyone back talking Natsu so after a while they just stopped talking about him altogether . ( flashback)

Lucy and the group were sitting at the guild enjoying each other's company and talking. A guild mate was talking with some of the others about a mission they went on and how Natsu was hotheaded and wouldn't have been able to handle it without wrecking something. 

She had overheard her husbands name and stormed over there and slapped him.

"Hey!, what was that for?!" the guild mate asked.

"Shut your damn mouth" she looked at him cold and mean. " You have no right to say that, you never worked with him, how dare you, go ahead say another thing about him, see where that gets you"

Happy had gotten on her shoulder with just as mad a look on his face as Lucy's. 

Erza and Gray were still at the bar but were watching. " he just died you asshole, and his wife is right there, how stupid are you?" Gray retorted . "I'm sssorrry , i wont do it again" apologized the guild mate. Lucy's mad face softened after he said that as her and Happy who glared behind her went back to the bar. 

 Her other two teammates later as everyone was leaving stopped the guild mate who made the comment earlier. They stopped in front of him threateningly " Lucy deserved that one by hitting you but she would never do anything to really hurt anyone despite that slap, let me be perfectly clear if you make another comment like that about Natsu in front of us or her and Happy, you are going to have me and Gray to deal with and trust me when i say it, you DONT! want that" The guild mate nodded terrified and understanding what Erza meant.

She had stopped crying , she felt she had no tears left and that she had cried enough for a lifetime . She was trying to continue her life for herself, Happy, her daughter as she knew Natsu would have wanted. He wasn't the guy who would have wanted them to mourn his death for the rest of their lives.

Natsu's scarf went with her everywhere as she tied to her arm to keep him close. Nashi was starting to learn to try to walk so her and Happy would get amusement over trying to get her to walk to one of them and stumbling.

 Her aunt Erza and Uncle Gray took turns watching her every so often so Lucy could have a break. On those days Lucy and Happy would go exploring together bonding. Gray would come by often to make sure she and Happy had everything they needed. He had really watched out for her over the last year.

Just on a regular day, Lucy was sitting at the bar chatting away with Mira Jane. One of the wizards was having a conversation with Cana and couple others. He didn't even realize he had slipped and said Natsu in a conversation which the second he did, the guild quieted down. 

" You idiot" Macow insulted. " Oh,oh no I'm sorry" the mage apologized. The wizards just watched as Lucy got up from her seat with Happy on her shoulder and Nashi in her arms. She was silent but she turned and gave a smile to the guild. " It's alright" she said then walked away going to meet her teammates.
