Diego had only gone a couple blocks when Elias called, immediately turning around. Diego didn't know how he was expecting it to go when Elias got home, but he certainly didn't expect that. Within minutes Diego pulled up to Elias's house again, Elias wasted no time climbing back into the passenger seat his face burned with tears. Not saying a word Diego drove, driving them back towards his place. Diego didn't know of anywhere else to go.
"Thanks for picking up." Elias whispered, Diego barely heard him.
"You have to stop thanking me for being a decent person." Diego replied, taking a glance at Elias who stared at the road ahead not saying anything else. The drive was silent, but this silence was enjoyed.
Soon they pulled into Diego's driveway, the rest of the neighborhood asleep. Diego got out of the car, but Elias stayed inside. Diego walked around and opened the door for Elias, and when Elias didn't get out he stuck his hand out for Elias to grab.
"It's warm inside." Diego said, finally getting Elias's attention, "besides it's not the first time you've been here." Diego laughed, Elias gave a sympathetic chuckle and took Diego's hand.
Inside Diego's house not much had changed, it was cleaner for one. No longer smelled of puke for another. Diego walked in front of Elias turning on the lights and asking if Elias was hungry. Elias just shook his head no. Feeling better standing next to Diego.
"You can take the bed again." Diego told Elias, opening the door to the bedroom. Elias walked next to Diego, placing his hand on Diego's shoulder.
"-and where will you be sleeping?" Elias asked.
"On the couch," Diego pointed to the living room. Elias moved in front of Diego, taking his hands and leading him further into the bedroom.
"Really? The bed is much more comfortable." Elias said while sitting down on the bed. Diego allowed a small smile and lifted Elias's chin up.
"You sure?" Diego asked.
"More sure than anything else." Elias verified, Diego allowed his small smile to grow and pushed Elias onto the bed. Their mouths melted together, legs became tangled. The feeling's they kept pent up soon released into the night, blankets became disregarded as they used only each other's bodies for warmth.
Soon the early morning came, and Elias was woken by the sounds of Diego snoring next to him. The sunlight was just beginning to peek through the windows, a couple of rays finding their way into Elias's eyes. In response, Elias turned on his side to face Diego. Beautiful Diego. Diego was still asleep but his arm made it's way onto Elias's shoulder, and Elias kept it there. Diego's hand was warm, a little rough but had delicate fingers. Elias felt his shoulder buzzing from the contact the hand made. Slowly he began to realize what was going on, he was in bed with Diego. The memories from last night made their way back to Elias, the plans to leave town, the fact he was in. bed. with. Diego. Soon enough his whole body was buzzing, his heart was racing, his breathing fastened. Elias sat up in bed, Diego's bed. The quick movement woke Diego up with a start, once he too remembered the events of the previous night, he was less confused on what Elias was doing here.
"Elias, are you alright?" Diego said while clearing his throat, Elias turned to look at Diego, his heart beginning to race even more.
"I didn't mean to wake you- I'm sorry." Elias eventually got out.
"What did I say about apologizing?" Diego smiled and motioned for Elias to lie down again. Which Elias obeyed. Diego held Elias, arms wrapped around his body and slowed his own breathing to slow Elias's.
"Are you sure you're still okay with leaving?" Elias whispered as the morning sun began to grow hotter and warmed Elias's back.
"As long as I'm with you, I couldn't care less about where we are." Diego answered. Elias breathed a sigh of relief. "But Elias, if you aren't comfortable going we don't have to."
Elias thought for a moment, they had no real plan, only what they discussed last night. But as Diego rubbed his thumb over Elias's hand, he knew what Diego said was true.
"I don't want to leave this bed, ever." Elias smiled, it was perfect.
"There'll be beds where we're going, don't you worry about that." Diego lightly swung a pillow at Elias and got up, Elias followed closely behind, but not before taking a second to memorize every detail of what just happened.
Before long packing Diego's car full. They wouldn't leave for good, just long enough to cause Elias's parents to worry. Diego had no other obligations besides Elias, having moved out of his parent's place awhile ago, and Elias being his boss.
The two went on their way before long, leaving the town and everyone in it behind. The music rang out the open windows, the weather became warmer every day. They didn't have an exact plan, but when they ran out of gas they found a hotel for the night, and continued the next day. Just like how they talked about the night of the fundraiser.
