She was as silent as a rock. She never cried so I had to guess when she needed something. The earl moved Kanda, Solar, and me to a room and kept us locked in for the past 2 weeks. We had a bathroom and kitchen so we could handle ourselves and whenever we made something, those items would be restocked the next day after we had slept. I was confused. Out of nowhere, everything was silent. Star was asleep. Kanda the same but I couldn't rest.

I had an unsettling feeling and checked the door to get out. It was unlocked and I leaped faith and exited the room. I followed the halls until I was met with an open door with a light on it. I peeked in to see the earl sitting at a piano. I slowly opened the door and stepped in.

"I just got the results. You are my son."

He hovered over the keys and I could feel the sadness. I sat next to him.

"I forgave you you know. If you hadn't done what you did with Mana... I wouldn't be me."

"I used to play the piano all the time for you when you were firstborn. You would only calm to the sound of the keys when fussy."

"I used to love playing. I used to play for money when I lived on the streets alone. It was before I was at the circus where I met mana."

"Why did you stop?"

"I rejected that part of me. I feared if I played again, I would become the person I hated at the time. I feared becoming you."

"My name is Adam Noah. Please, if you aren't comfortable with calling me dad or father yet, Adam will do."

"Adam, I have lived in fear of my other self so long I am terrified to let him out."

"Play. You can go slowly if you want. You can lose yourself. It is up to you. You are the one in control of the keys. It is your choice whether you let them control you or trap you."

Adam stood up. "I am heading to bed. Hopefully, I gave you something to think about. You and your family are free to wander the place and explore as much as you want." Adam left the room after that I kept staring at the keys and hovering over them as Adam was doing. I took a deep breath and then started to play.

I shook my head after finishing and wiped my tears, fleeing to my room and cuddling into Kanda, falling asleep.
