My world is very different to what our history dictated, instead of using our natural brawn and intelligence to help the Earth, we instead devote everything to quirks. A quirk is like... a superpower. In the pre-quirk era, you could find such things in movies or comics. But at this stage, 80% of the population has a quirk, the rest of the population? They're quirkless, meaning they are normal human beings. Though I reckon that most of that population is the elderly. With the coming of quirks, came the coming of heroes and villains. If you could get a license, then you could become a hero.

Even though I'm quirkless, I will become a hero. I just need some luck. I will find a wa-

"Yagi, can you please pay attention?"

"O-oh! Sorry Teacher!

Izuku looked around the classroom, he must've started daydreaming again, dreaming about becoming a hero. He knew he could become one, he just needed to work hard, right?

He could feel the glares burn through the back of his head, he was always looked at weird. They always judged him because he was different. Izuku mostly ignored their antics, yes, but sometimes people would go too far....

One of those people was his own sister. Izumi, or Izuchan. They were friends ever since they were born, that was until he got diagnosed as quirkless. He hated that word, quirkless, he wasn't diagnosed as quirkless, he was just born normal. That's not how his sister saw things though. She started bullying him, she even gave him a nickname... Deku. What did it mean? Useless.

Another person was Katsuki Bakugo, or Kacchan, as Izuku called him. Together they both bullied him relentlessly. Never once was he called by his normal name in his whole life while he was around the duo.

When it came to random name calling in the hallways, and weird looks from his peers, Izuku never found it hard to avoid criticism like that. But with the duo, it was different.

Whenever they called him names, stole his lunch, or whatever, it would always send chills down his spine. It was personal to him. Izumi was his own sister, and Kacchan was his childhood friend, and once best friend.

School was now over, Izuku grabbed his things and left the classroom. As he got to the corner, he was glad Izumi and Kacchan didn't target him today. Though, as usual, he was given rude remarks and gestures.

He kept walking home.

"Yo, Deku? What's up?" One student said.

"Can you imagine being quirkless today?" Said another.

Izuku kept walking.

"You think anyone will love you? I doubt your own mother loves you." Said the first one.

"Who would love anyone that's quirkless, hahahaha." Said the second one.

Izuku froze.

"I know" Izuku whispered under his breath.

Izuku kept walking.

——————

As Izuku walked home he took a shortcut. Something was wrong, he felt it. He stopped, Izuku looked around the area around him. He was in an old neighborhood that was abandoned. In fact, Izuku didn't see of any other living creature.

Breathing quietly. Izuku hear another sharp cry, As Izuku crept towards the alleyway he suspected was the source of the sound, a rough voice growled, "Shut up! You're going to come with me, whether you like it, or not."

"I want to go home," the girl cried.

'Wait a second, that girl... she has to be the missing girl. The girl on the news! There were no witnesses or anything. This man is dangerous, the girl has to be let out of his hands.'

He couldn't call the police, he didn't want to take his eyes off of the child. He could do anything to her. The man began to take of his belt. He almost unzipped his pants when...

'No!'

Unable to stop himself, almost unaware he had even moved, Izuku jolted forward, catching the man's hand before it was able to make contact. Izuku twisted the man's hand behind his back with as much force as the boy could muster. He then kicked the man straight in the nuts. Izuku grabbed the girl out of the man's grasps.

The man shouted in rage. He fell to the ground clutching his nuts.

Izuku was already sprinting with the girl cradled close to his chest, pushing his legs faster than he'd ever run before. Izuku murmured comforting phrases to the child as he held her even closer, fully aware that the man was gaining on them every second. Izuku felt lightheaded, he needed more air.

Izuku was almost there, his destination? The police station. He'd been running for four blocks just to get there, he was almost there now. Izuku felt the man touch his shirt, the man was close, too close.

In a fit of determination, Izuku sprinted forward with the little energy he had left.

As Izuku crashed through the doors of the station, his legs stopped functioning. Izuku put the kid on the ground with the last remaining energy he had. Not even a second later he began to choke, the man wouldn't give up, the man got on top of him, his strong, hairy hands almost sucked the soul out of Izuku.

Izuku's vision began to fade, at least he would die a hero, maybe he would finally find salvation. A group of police officers tackled the man to the ground. But it was already too late.

"Breaking News!

The missing child Atachi Guda has been found.

She was kidnapped by Keiji Furukawa, a child rapist and smuggler.

However, no hero or police officers saved her.

A middle schooler, Izuku Yagi saved the child as he ran for his life. He ran all the way to the nearest police station and ultimately the child survived.

Sadly, Yagi did not. He died to choking by the hands of Furukawa.

Furukawa will be receiving life in prison.

Is Yagi a hero or just plain reckless?
