Taking a step forward, the elevator doors closed behind her with a sound. Yumiko put on a smile, trying to look friendly and approachable. As that was what she was here for. To meet new people. Not to see the guys she only just met again...She looked around, slowly walking into the big apartment. It is filled to the brim with people she never met, but that was to be expected. They were occupying the couches on the side, the free space in the middle and even the balcony that had an amazing view of the city. And they all wore elegant clothes.. "Are you fucking kidding me?" Her shoulders slumped down.
She looked down at her own choice of clothes and heat rose in her cheeks. She looked away, feeling out of place right now.
I thought this was a normal college party and not the fucking met gala. That's why Kuroo said I should wear that dress...
"This is so embarrassing. I'm leaving. Fuck it." She turned around, taking out her phone and started to text Kuroo. Something about her getting sick and not making it. The elevator door in front of her opens, her finger about to press send. She made her way in without looking up and walked straight into a hard chest. Arms embraced her before she could hurt herself, but her phone wasn't as lucky and she heard it crash onto the floor.
"Fuck."
"Oi Kenma! What are you doing in the elevator hugging Sakamoto?" A loud voice reaches their ears over the music.
Kuroo.
"She was about to fall. I only caught her." The warm arms released her and she looked up into his golden eyes.
Their eye contact breaks once Yumiko is suddenly pulled back by her waist and into another warm chest clad in a button down, but this one is bigger. She tried to pull away but was unsuccessful. "Yumi are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"
"Bokuto let her go, you're making her uncomfortable." The blond guy in front of her says as he walks past them, her eyes following him.
"But she's so cute and at perfect height for hugs. How can I?" He tightens his arms around her, laying his chin on her head.
He must be drunk.
"Bokuto, please." She pulled at his big hands once again and his hold loosened.
"Only because you said please." He whispers as he leans over her one last time, making her feel nervous. She can practically smell the alcohol on his breath.
"Yeah, yeah" Yumiko mumbles.
"Common we're gonna get you a drink. It looks like you need help to relax a bit." Kuroo gives her a smirk. "Although I know of other ways that could help with that as well."
Yumiko blushed and shakes her head. "No, I was just about to go actually."
"What? Why Yumii?" Bokuto whines.
"Oh, no. You're staying now. Its your fault for coming." Kuroo puts an arm over her shoulder and maneuvered her into what she thinks may be the direction of their kitchen. "By the way, why didn't you wear the dress like I told you to?"
Yumiko looks around at all the people. Some of them come over and greet them but Kuroo continues to move them and leaves Bokuto to entertain the guests. "I thought it would be too much, I didn't want to overdress you know...but that definitely backfired."
Kuroo chuckled. "Yeah, it definitely did. And what do we learn from that?"
Yumiko looked up at him with a frown. "I don't know. Always overdress?"
"Nope." He hummed. "Its that you should always follow my advice, cutie."
Yumiko let's out a short laugh at that. "Ohh and let me guess you're always right in what you say as well, huh?"
"You learn fast." He grinned down at her. "But don't feel insecure about the way you dressed. You look really good, for real."
"Thanks, Kuroo." She rolled her eyes. It was easy to have a conversation with Kuroo and that alone calmed her nerves down a great deal.
"Here we are. La kítchén." He gestured towards the big white kitchen infront of them.
"I don't think that's the name for it, Kuroo." A voice behind them says.
"Oh shut it, Kenma. Don't ruin the moment."
"What moment? You're just getting either food or drinks. Nothing special about that."
Yumiko remembers that name. The blonde guy from the elevator. And her assumption is confirmed once he walks up from behind them and leans over her to get a bottle of something. His sleeve riding up as he does so, revealing some inches of his skin. "Is that a tattoo?"
"Huh?"
Yumiko points at his wrist.
"Oh, yeah. It was a bet."
She takes a look at his face, evaluating his expression. "Can I maybe see it?"
He meets her gaze for a second and shrugged. "Sure why not. Here Kuroo, hold this for a second."
He hands the bottle to Kuroo, making him lose his hold on her shoulders and step back. Kenma unbottons his sleeve and pulls is up, revealing more of his skin, which is marked with a little bit of ink. He holds out his wrist towards her "It's nothing special, really. Just a stick and poke."
Giving him another glance she stepped forward and took hold of his wrist, the skin cold against her fingers. That must be because he was just outside..
She took a closer look and could make out two kittens. One black and one white. She beamed at that "That's soo cute. I really like it. Honestly if I would ever get a tattoo it probably would look something like this. Did you come up with it or someone else?"
"Kuroo came up with it actually, he said it reminded him of us....now I'm branded." He rolls his eyes at the memory.
Yumiko couldn't help but chuckle at that. "A bet is a bet I guess, but I still hope that you like it. I mean it's permanently on your skin."
"Yeah, I think I'll keep it." He takes another look at it before rolling his sleeve down again and turning towards Kuroo. Stretching his hand out he waited for him to give back the bottle Kenma handed to him earlier but instead got a glass filled with liquor.
"Let's go easy tonight, you wouldn't wanna make a bad impression on little Sakamoto would you?" Kenma huffed at that but took the glass nonetheless.
"I have one for you, too." Kuroo smiled handing her a drink of some kind. "I hope you like it."
She leaned forward and took a sniff, frowning. "What is it?"
"Just trust me, you'll like it."
Yumiko gave him a sceptical look. She really shouldn't accept a drink from a stranger..
He gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't you remember, cutie? I'm always right."
Yumiko rolled her eyes at that. "Yeah, Kuroo and I'm mother Teresa. Sure."
Kuroo just smiled in respons, whatching her as she took the first sip.
