A Different Ideology

I told you our love would last for eternity. I believed that our love would outlive this physical world and go beyond what we thought was possible; And as we watched the waves tumble and roll over one another, you said something that took me aback.

All things come to an end. The words rolled off your tongue in a tender tone, and you began to speak once more.

"Lets say our love existed in a physical manifestation of itself.
If that physical manifestation lived past the end of time, past the destruction of the world, galaxy, and universe, what is binding onto that love?"
You told me that just because you wont exist one day, does not mean that you never loved me; And when that love runs out with our last breaths, we will be left with the fond memories of what our love used to be.

I always thought of a forever with you.
A different ideology than you propose.
I thought of an end result meanwhile you tend to focus on the journey in between.
Life is your sun and you are at perihelion.

And with that I was reminded of the excruciating thought that one day people will walk this earth and not know of the humble being that is you.

All things come to an end, and that's what makes every moment with you even more momentous.
