Mum was coming back in about an hour and I was just cleaning up the house as Eli stood behind me nagging me. I had to leave him alone for a moment so I warned him, "Don't break anything or I'll break you."
"I won't," he scoffed seeming offended. "What do you take me for?"
"I'm being dead serious. I've spent ages cleaning and I want everything to stay in one piece before mum comes."
I was going to the toilet, when I heard something. Would you like to guess what that sound was? IT WAS THE SOUND OF SOMETHING FUCKING SMASHING.
"ELIJAH DIEM!"
"It was an accident," he defended meekly.
"What did you break?"
"The vase," he whispered as if saying it quietly was going to unbreak it.
"Eli you know that was her favourite."
"I know. I know that's why I was trying to clean it."
"Your telling her not me," I stated.
"What no you tell her."
"Why should I?"
"She's your actual mum."
"Oh you wanna pull that card. What was your reasoning for when you wanted to come today?" I raised my eyebrows.
"I wanted to see mumma Pierce," he reiterated.
"She's just as much my mum then she is yours."
"I feel like my parents are a lesbian couple."
I just kept blinking, not knowing how to react. Once I finally gathered some words I asked, "What do you mean?"
"Because I have two mums. Mine and yours. I probably see your mum more than I see my dad." Now that I think of it he wasn't wrong and I definitely saw his mum more than I saw my dad.
The sound of the door opening broke us out from our epiphany. I saw my mum walk through the door. Me and Eli automatically stood in front of the broken pieces of vase.
"Hi. Your home early."
"Yeah I thought I would surprise you but you don't sound to over the moon to see me." She narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
"Eli what did you do?"
"How did you know it was me?"
"Mum's always know."
"Mum shut the door your letting the draft in." It was the first thing I could think of to avoid mum shouting at both of us.
"Well actually I have another surprise. I want you to meet someone."
Me and Eli both made noises of confusion.
"Come in." In came someone I had never seen before. He looked slightly older than my mum. He had auburn hair, slight stubble and thick eyebrows. Overall he was a very built man with sharp facial features. He looked good for his age but for the life of me I couldn't remember who he was.
"Are we supposed to know him?" Eli asked bluntly causing me to let out a amused breath as mum looked at him with that scolding look. You know that look when you need to tell off your kid but you can't shout so you use your face. It was that look. He looked at me for reassurance but I just gave him the same look mum was giving.
"What? I just don't remember him," he whined.
"That's because you don't know him." She seemed nervous.
"This is Kol."
We went up to him before simultaneously saying, "Have a seat Kol," as we pointed our arms to the sofa. He just gave an anxious smile. Good. He should be crapping his pant right now.
