Your pupils widen. You were expecting his answer, but hearing it come out of his mouth felt different.

You then hear snickering from the far corner. You turn and see the Shinigami staring at you both. His eyes freaked you out but you try to ignore them.

I am in the same room as a killer. you think. His words were enough proof for you - I mean, let's be honest right now, who would lie about being Kira - but you had to see it with your eyes to truly believe it.

"Prove it." you say, turning to Light and crossing your arms.

A smirk creeps on his face. "Sure" he says with confidence, reaching for his bag.

He grabs the black notebook you had touched earlier today and opens it. Inside were written names... a lot of them. You swear you've heard all of them before, but you couldn't put your finger on it.

Then it clicked.

"You've been killing criminals by writting their names in this... book?" you ask, in disbelief.

"Precisely." Light turns on the TV to a live program showcasing a killer getting caught by the police. As his name is made public, Light writes it down in his mysterious notebook and leans back in his chair. "Now wait."

You feel your heart quicken as the seconds pass by slowly. It felt like weeks, no, months until you see the criminal try to take a deep breath, then collapse to the ground and die.

You try to remain calm as you analize the situation. He has my name, he saw my face. If I screw up, I'm dead. I need to choose my words wisely.

Light turns and looks at you. "Do you believe me now?"

You sigh. "It's not like I have an option."

You sit back down on the bed.

"So how is this related to..."

"Ryuk." the Shinigami says.

"Right. How is this related to Ryuk?"

"You already seem familiar with Shinigamis, so I'll skip that part. Every Shinigami has a Death Note in which they can write humans' names to kill them. That's how they expand their lifetime. All Shinigamis must have a notebook on them at all times in order to stay alive. Ryuk got his hands on 2 of them, "dropping" one of them to the human world."

"Alright... So, am I your accomplice now or?"

"Do you wish otherwise?" Light questions with a raised eyebrow.

"That's basically asking me if I want to die," you say. He doesn't look convinced. "No, obviously."

There is a moment of silence.

"Listen, I don't know you very well, so I don't know what you're capable of. I don't want you ruining my plans, so all I need you to do is shut your mouth and wait for my orders."

You look at him annoyed "Oh so you think I'm just going to sit around and do nothing?" you say as you approach to him. You put your knee on the chair in between his legs and grab his tie, pulling him closer. The space between you and Light was now close to nothing. You tilt your head as you look at his lips and whisper in his ear "Do you really think I am that boring, Light?"

You see a smirk creep on his face.

"So this is the game you're playing at, hm?" he says.

You feel butterflies in your stomach as he grabs you by the waist. You knew you both wanted the same thing, but neither of you wanted to give in. So you continued to stay in the same position for a few moments.

Then you heard a loud knock at the door, which made you jump.

"Light, dear, I brought you two some snacks!" you hear his mother say as she comes in.

"Thanks, mom," he smiles as he gets up and takes the plate to the desk.

"Alright, I'll be in the kitchen if you need anything," she says and closes the door behind her.

You turn your attention back to Light and you see him rest his face on his fist. "Nice strategy, won't work on me though."

"Oh, you really think I'd resort to such techniques just to keep myself alive?" you chuckle. "No," you start smiling, "you brought me into this, at least let me prove myself and be your partner in crime." you say, with a wide grin on your face, holding out your hand for Light to grab.

You see him smirk. "Very well then."
