'Well since you're done eating do you want to go train?'
~~~
The font door latched in place as it closed behind you "Where are we going?" Shinso questioned staring ahead. 'To the park.' Read on the screen as you started onwards.
The walk was quiet with the simple sounds of the wind gently shaking the trees and the patter of both of your feet.
"What's your quirk?" The sudden break of silence startled you as you stopped in place, looking at him blinking a few times 'huh?'
His amethyst eyes bored into yours "I asked what your quirk was" a nervous feeling fluttered throughout your body causing your hands to clasp together
'It's not anything special' your stomach sank with your answer it wasn't so much a dive of guilt but a churn of indifference, you were aware that your quirk is what some may call special but having ignored it for so many years it would feel strange to shine it under a good light.
Glancing at the screen he drew in a deep breath unsatisfied with the answer you had given him, he met your eyes once again.
"Really? So you got into the Hero Course for nothing?" he asked, his voice being filled with annoyance and maybe just the slightest amount of envy.
Your right thumb began to rub over the other in an attempt to distract from the awkwardness that floated thickly around you both.
'Well maybe it's a little bit special, but it's not anything cool like my other classmates.' You tried to explain yourself, anything to thin the uncomfortable air.
Letting out a low chuckle "It has to be better than Denki's" your e/c orbs widened as he insulted a peer that you looked up to.
'Hey don't make fun of him! He has quite a strong quirk you know.' you defended Class-1As very own ray of light, constantly buzzing with infectious energy, quite literally.
"Yeah one that he can use once, then he's rendered useless." the pair of you began to walk again.
Making the oh so troublesome mistake of forgetting that your mind was written out for the world to read 'At least he can control his.' You thought to yourself.
"You can't control yours?" the idea seemed ludicrous to someone who's entire foundation for their power was built on the basis of dominance and authority.
'I never said that.' You tried deflecting, but as Shinso being a dog with a bone when it came to topics that interested him there wasn't anyway that he would let it slip through his fingers so easily.
Holding out an expecting hand "Hand over the screen." He demanded, unclipping it you placed it in his palm
Scrolling up slightly he searched for the sentence that he was after before turning it in your direction "See right there you said it." He pointed out what you had obviously said.
'Ok so maybe, and only maybe I said that.' you caved in.
'Would you look at that we've arrived.' You tried diverting his attention away from the subject and towards the park that you were now standing in front of.
Curiosity killed the cat and Shinso was more than willing to put it on the line. "Don't try to change the subject." He called out your failed attempt at guiding his attention else where.
'You got me, it's just something I don't like talking about' you shrugged shoving your hands into your hoodie
"Fair enough" he followed without another question about your quirk.
~~~
Though that didn't last long as he relentlessly dropped little things about your quirk creating an itch of irritation that you became desperate to scratch.
