He slowly stood up from his seat taking his time trying to prolong his inevitable doom

Your head was rested in your flattened hand a small smile on your face 'see was that so hard?'
Shinso glowered at you shoving cake into his face chewing on it too aggressively for a dessert "just hurry up and tell me how you got the cats."
A pout graced your lips 'fine, I'll tell you...I used my quirk.'
His chewing ceased and his eyes shot open, swallowing the rest he spoke in shock "you used your quirk?!" nodding your head you shrank back a little bit your previous confidence fading away.
Slowly nodding your head you confessed to what you had done only moments earlier.
"So your quirk isn't to do with illusions" Shinso muttered under his breathe your head slightly turned to the side as you pet the cat in your lap.
So he had been trying to figure it out in his free time. It felt odd for someone to be interested in you in this way normally people would think and talk about you in all the wrong ways including yourself sometimes.
The overthinking wasn't much help.
But a smile still managed to creep up onto your face as your eyes softened staring at the tired boy who couldn't stop thinking constantly hearing the cogs in his brain churning.
At times you felt guilty for not speaking with him like an average person would but there's not much you could do.
Your selective muteness had, had its grasp around your throat ever since you were young, only ever freeing its vice grip behind the closed doors of the safe haven you call home.
The exact time your mind chose not to speak its thoughts was blurry but the reason as to why would always remain as clear as day. No amount of work could fix it.
You took the red straw into your mouth enjoying the soft chocolaty taste that filled it.
Waving your hand in front of his face you brought Shinso back to focusing on your physical self 'Do you want to come here again next Wednesday?' you spoke hoping he'd agree to it.
Instead a playful look ignited in his eyes "you know y/n some people might start to think you enjoy my constant pestering" he put the coffee cup to his lips chugging it down whilst staring into your e/c orbs.
You turned your appearance into one of disgust you would never be able to wrap your head around the way that Shinso barely survived, fuelling himself on coffee alone and not sleep.
You were aware that he tried his hardest as you could always smell the faint scent of lavender on him that was swallowed up by the strength the caffeine.
"But we can come here again after school next Wednesday" he gently placed the white cup down.
Your face beamed as you grinned from ear to ear this was really like what real friends do, maybe you'll start to hang out all the time like the best friends in the shows and movies you watch do.
If you're being honest with yourself most of the ideas you had came from them embarrassed by the amount of hours you had spent with empty hope creating what you thought was real friendship.
Normal would never be something that would be in the vocabulary of your life, but you were always willing to play pretend and forget everything wasn't so.
