This day cannot end any faster, can it? It feels like I have been in my sixth hour for days. I can't stand the attention anymore. Can't a girl get a little space?

"You okay?" May asks, sitting in the seat behind me.

"Yeah," I sigh.

She squints her eyes as if to say that she knows I'm lying. I can't stand that look and she knows it.

"I can't deal with the attention. There, you happy now?" I whisper yell.

She smiles with satisfaction and says, "Yup," before turning back to her other friend who's sitting beside her.

I continue to do my work when the bell finally rings. I let out a huge sigh of relief as I pick up my belongings and run out the door.

After I grab my bag, I make it out to the car first. "Hey, no fair!" Kamen whines as he approaches the black truck.

"You said so yourself that whoever gets to the car first, gets to drive it. So give me the keys," I demand.

"That's because I knew I would always get here first," he mumbles as he shoves his hand in his pocket.

I smile in delight and get in the car, waiting for Kayla.

*********

Dinner is the most amazing thing my mom has ever made. I think I have made her happy, but I don't know.

"Mom, this food is delicious," Kamen stuffs it in his mouth. I look away in disgust.

"Thanks, honey, it was just an experiment," she bites her lip. She's hiding something. I study her for a moment before asking the obvious thing that everyone's been dying to ask.

"So, mom, why are you acting weird? You never make this good of food, and it seems like your keeping something from your beloved family."

She looks at her plate, when she looks back at me, there's a full on grin spread from ear to ear. "I got a promotion."

"Oh my god, really?" we all say in sync.

"I was thinking that we all could go shopping this weekend," she grabs a glass of water.

I cock an eyebrow. Mom never takes us out, ever. I have a feeling that that's not the only thing that's happened.

*********

"There's something going on with her," I say to May on the phone.

"What do you mean?" she asks.

"She's just acting really weird, she's taking us out shopping this weekend. She never does that unless something's going on with her that she doesn't want to tell us," I whisper.

She sighs, "You're overreacting. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine."

"Fine, you win like always."

"I'm going to take you out tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay."

I plop down on my bed and toss my phone next to me. I cover my face with my comforter and drift into sleep.

**********

"Kira," Blake whispers next to me.

I sigh and roll my eyes for the tenth time. "What?" I hiss.

He smirked, "Let's play post office, you can lick and I'll deliver."

"You're disgusting," I state, turning back to face the board.

Ten minutes later, "Kira," he whispers again.

"What!" I yell.

"Miss Silverman, no yelling in class," Mr. Walter scolds.

"You know how they say skin is the largest organ?" Blake asks.

I roll my eyes, "Yeah, so?"

"Well, not in my case."

"Oh my god, Blake!" I whisper yell. He smirks at me and chuckles.

I hit my head on my desk and sigh. "You're killing many brain cells you know," he whispers next to me.

I lift my head and begin the test Mr. Walter has just given me.

********

"Where are we going?" I whine as I sit in May's car.

"To the mall, they have a sale at Express," she flashes me a smile.

I scoff and put my head on the window.

"Oh, don't be such a sour puss. I'll make you find something."

Like always, I almost say, but I hold my tongue.

********

"I can't breathe in these pants!" I yell to May.

"Go up a size then!" she tells from the other side of the door.

I never thought I would have to fit in a size three. I pout and grab the blue ripped skinny jeans off the rack. They fit nicely. I open the door to present my new outfit.

"How do I look?" I ask.

"Smokin'," she says.

After I take off the pants, she throws another piece of clothing at me. I examine it thoroughly. A strapless black dress.

"Do I have to?" I ask.

She sighs, "Yes, you do. Now get your skinny little ass in the dressing room."

I roll my eyes and change into the small dress.

********

May never told me that after we went to the mall, we're going to a party. Not just any party. Blake Cooper's party. She forced me into the black dress and did my hair and make up.

"I don't know what you're so afraid of," May says, finishing my last curl.

"It's Blake's house, May. You know how much I like him. And it's my first party. What if something happens?" I rant.

She rolls her eyes, "I won't let you out of my sight."

"That's what people say in movies, then the main girl gets raped," why am I so paranoid?

"You're my best friend. People in movies are just acting. I would never let anyone touch you."

"Okay. I'll hold you to that."

"Kira?" Kamen asks from the other side of the door.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Can I come in? Are you two decent?"

"Yeah," we both say at the same time.

He walks in, wearing a leather jacket and jeans. "Why are you all dressed up?" I ask.

"I told him he could come with us," May pipes in.

I frown at her, then I smirk. "What?" she asks.

"You know what."

She looks down, hiding her blush. When she finishes, I stand up and look in my mirror. My hair is curled to perfection, my make up is beautifully done, and this dress hugs my body in all the right places.

"Ready to go?" Kamen asks, staring at May.

"Yeah," she blushes.

I roll my eyes and walk out the door.
