"I need to test it, if the fae lied I'm not wasting my time, or life to bring him back here." Algar sounded cross. "So what, go pick a fight? While I baby sit? What did they do to her anyway?" "Dax, we need to know what we have on our side. Wait till she regains her strength and head to The Shepard. I'll meet you there in five days. If I don't, take her south and they will pay you." "I don't like this, not in the least." Algar huffed "Like it or not, this is what is happening Dax. Don't disappoint me." "Shh, I think she's coming to." The men were silent for a moment, Theo laid as still as she could and kept her eyes closed. "Five days, Dax." It was the last thing he said before he rode off leaving Dax and Theo in his wake.

"I know you're awake Theo." Her eyes fluttered open. "He will meet with us, don't fret." She shifted uncomfortably, "And if he doesn't, sell me like a possession." He had almost forgot she was just their prisoner in all the commotion. "How are you feeling?" She pulled the edges of the tattered skirt down, much of her legs and right thigh was showing. Dax's eyes lingered a little too long for her comfort.

"Dax?" She said his name so softly it made his heart flutter in his chest. His eyes rolled to her, "Yes?" She took a deep breath. "Your brother is going to hurt a lot of innocent people." His brows furrowed, "People get hurt in power struggles." She shook her head, "No, it's more than that." He leaned forward his voice was sharp, "And what, take you back to Bergamot? To your husband?" His words stung. "No." Her answer made him check his tone, she had taken him aback. "What?" She shook her head, "I don't want to go back to Bergamot. You were right." Lightening his tone to her he studied her, "Do you not love him?" A single tear fell from her eye, "I do, I probably always will. But he is a monster, he is not the man that I knew as a child. He is viscous and he is killing innocent people too. All in the pursuit to find me and take over the realms."

Dax sat back, "What was he like? Before." Theo didn't care to keep anymore secrets from Dax; he was the only person that may be able to help her. "Beautiful, kind. You remind me of him when he was young." Dax was unmoved. "He defied his father, unchained me often. Taught me to fight, to fence. Took me hunting, showed me how to read and write. All in the hope that I would never leave his side." Dax snorted, "If I have a future telling elf I'd want to make sure she stayed around too." She shook her head sadly, "Dax, I didn't have that power then." That revelation got his attention, "He did all this before?" She nodded, "I was a late child when he fell in love with me. We tried to resist the urge to be with one another. On his twenty fifth birthday he couldn't hide how he felt any longer, it was when he told his father that he wished to be wed to me that my clairvoyance was reviled to him. Even then he told me that it wasn't possible and it wouldn't happen again. He nursed me back to health every time, the visions use to leave me weak and sick. It was after he became king and we were wed that he even considered using my powers to his advantage. And it was only after his mother was murdered that he became malevolent in his actions. "

Her head slumped to her chest, and she was quiet. Dax reached out and gently lifted her chin up. He saw she was trying to hide her tears from him. "Years of being his wife, his equal. I couldn't bare the evil actions he would take. I tried to run, but he caught me and chained me. I talked him in to allowing me to have a silk wrap for the manacle, that's when I escaped again. And that is when he began to drug me. "The tears rolled down with no hope to slow them, "I have been a prisoner in my own kingdom for years. No Dax, I do not want to be with Bergamot, I make illustrious men evil."

Instinctively his arms went around her and held her tightly to him. Trying to comfort her as she sobbed in defeat. As she began to calm Dax took her face in his hands and he looked down into her eyes. The green slits glinted in the moonlight, he thought to himself that she was truly beautiful. She had stopped crying, face still wet with tears, she was now staring back at him. He pulled her face to his and kissed her softly. His lips felt warm on hers, making her head spin. Nothing played in her head, no visions, no sounds, nothing. She kissed him back grabbing handfuls of his shirt, pulling him closer to her. Sliding his hands behind her, burying his hands in her soft hair. She tightened her grip on his shirt, as if she never wanted to let him go. Dax's breath quickened as his hands moved to her waist grabbing her skirt. Her breath caught, and she pulled a little away, her lips still on his. Stunned he pulled away and grabbed her hands, pulling them away gently.
