"A wedding present for my dear wife. A trespasser, a thief, a prisoner to do with what she wishes." The last words jerked Theo's head to Godrick's cold gaze, with that she knew it was a test of faith. "He Killed Bergamot!" Algar shouted, blood spraying from his teeth. With a cavalier stare Theo turned to Godrick, "Was this the surprise?" Godrick smiled, "Yes." She shut her eyes and a single tear rolled down her cheek, "Where?" His gaze went from Algar back to her, "The Forbidden Caves." Theo felt her face flush, she knew that Algar had led Ashcroft there with the intent to kill him and release his soul to the Fae, God only knew what they did with it. He did it on purpose, to pay his debt to the Fae. She stood straight, stiff and sure. Her chin lifted slightly as she spoke. "Algar Hunter, I, Theoda Cornell of Wishmont, condemn you to death by hanging. Your sentence will be carried out three days from today. May God have mercy on you, for I will not."
The color drained from his face as she brought her sentence down on him. Her eyes were cold and heartless, and he knew. Shackled, beat, bloody, and imprisoned he had broken her. She could read what he was thinking and knew that he had lead Bergamot there to his death. Although Godrick was a total surprise. He swallowed hard as she took her seat, eyes never leaving his as if to tell him she was full hearted in this moment. He glanced at Godrick, his expression was just as exasperated. The crowd was silent for a moment before the whispering became a dull roar.
Theo took a deep breath before looking away from Algar and taking a sideways glance at Godrick, "My husband, is it appropriate for me to ask that the man be taken away?" Godrick blinked before ordering the prisoner taken away. His hand set gently down on hers felt warm, he laced his fingers through hers and she responded with a light squeeze. Abruptly he stood and turned to her and bowed. Again and unexpectedly her stomach flipped. He held his hand out to her, "Lady, a dance for your husband?" Instinctively she put her hand in his. Leading her out on the dance floor the crowd spread allowing them the entirety of the floor.
They swayed from song to song, it felt like they had danced the night. With her head resting on Godrick's shoulder she whimpered, "I'm so very tired." His hand ran up her arm and squeezed her shoulder lightly, "Time for us to retire." Godrick lead Theo off the dance floor and walked with her down the winding corridors to her bed chambers.
Slowly and gently he put his hand on her collar bone and pushed her against the door before kissing her. Her hands came up and pushed him away, "Godrick, I..." Before she could finish his mouth was on hers again. He fumbled for a moment with the door before opening it, they both crashed to the floor. Their kiss broke and they laughed. Godrick stood and pulled Theo up his mouth immediately finding hers, he jerked and pulled on the wedding dress that shortly fell to the floor.
Moonlight poured into the room in the early hours waking Theo. She shivered searching for her night gown. Algar came into her thoughts, cold and shivering in the dungeon. Anger filled her and took over as she slithered out of the room and took herself down the halls. She let instinct lead her, she took several turns and stairs before finding herself in the dungeon staring down at Algar. She crouched much like an animal ready to attack. "Algar Hunter," Algar looked up and smiled his cocky smile, "Theo! I..." She cut him short with a sharp slap to the face. "What happened to Ashcroft?!" Her voice was high a shaky, "I want to know." He smiled a tight smile as the pain faded. "No, I'm sure you know Theoda. You have that cute little gift." She gripped his shoulders lowering her head to sob momentarily.
"Theo, are you here to help me or not?" Her head came up to meet his dark eyes. "Help you? I just sentenced you to death, I'm going to watch you dangle helplessly." Algar glared at her. "You gave my husband to the Fae. You lead him to his death, whether or not Godrick was part of it. You took him there to repay your debt. I may not have wanted to go back to Ashcroft, but that does not mean I did not care about his wellbeing." His eyes looked almost black in the dark dungeon, maybe they were. "Dax is out there." Theo didn't move. "I am aware." "He would never let you kill me. And if you fail, Theo you don't want us as your enemies." Theo grinned an alluring cynical smile, "Algar...Dax will never be my enemy, and you hold yourself on a pedestal. I was never really afraid of you, intrigued by your brother, but never afraid. You kidnap me, hurt me, chain me, rape me, drug me, kill my husband, and you have warnings for me?"
