"Yeah, okay, and time will tell

If I'm alive and well, 'cause when I'm by myself

I find that I keep flying high, sometimes I must remind myself

That change is more than pennies laying on the floor inside a well

You cross my mind, do not apologize for being fine as hell

I'm spinning here inside your spell, my mind has start to wander

I missed a day, I stay up late admiring your posture"

It was 11 am and I was busy as could be. I took Bev up on her offer of joining her at the diner today. It was a Thursday, she said it was one of her less busy days in comparison to the weekends and Mondays and that I should be expecting a crowd similar to what yesterday's crowd looked like. It would be a 'relaxed day' she said.

Boy was she wrong.

The diner was bustling. Every table and every stool was filled. There was even a line outside full of people ordering take out or waiting for service.

I severely underestimated the popularity of Bev's diner. You would think this was the only place in town with the crowds she draws in, and this is a slow day?

Yesterday's crowd was significantly smaller than todays, and I thought yesterday was busy

The breakfast bunch rush cleared a few hours ago, we had about a 15 minute break before the rush we are currently in started; brunch.

I was wearing a pair of mom jeans, a distressed Arctic Monkeys shirt, I had my blonde hair pulled back into a tortoiseshell clip and was wearing my pink watch. But that wasn't it, more notably my newest accessory to my outfit was the green apron I put on a few hours back.

Working today was Bev, Lucas the busboy and chef in training, and Richard, the chef that works the days Harry doesn't. Then me, the unofficial hirer as of a few hours back.

Bev was overwhelmed and I was taking up counter space, so I offered to help out with the diner. I was met with a resounding "Yes, put on this apron and get your butt back here."

Needless to say, I could have a real job with waitressing, taking orders is my middle name.

But carrying the orders out? That has taken a little more patience and concentration.

Lucas, who is a charming young man, had been helping me carry orders out. He was 20 and taking a gap year or two. He spends his time at Bev's diner and shadows Harry to learn how to be a better chef. He wants to go to the same culinary school as Harry the next time those classes are taking sign ups. He told me that they are extremely competitive and spots fill up fast. He also said he was a recreational musician, he and a few buddies played at the bar in the town over every now and again. Even though he expressed he only played the guitar and sang for fun, I could tell in the way he talked about it he really enjoyed it.

Hey Windsor, you've caught on to serving super quick. You should think about asking Bev to hire you on. I mean it's just three of us here everyday."

"I wouldn't want to impose, this was probably just for today anyways. But i will think about it." I said in return to Lucas, he looked back at me with a crooked smile and said "suit yourself but clearly you have been useful today."
