"You can go your own way

Go your own way

You can call it

Another lonely day

You can go your own way

Go your own way

Tell me why

Everything turned around

Packing up

Shacking up is all you want to do"

I salute those of the olden days, not the ones who had it lucky and got to ride a horse and buggy but the ones that traveled everywhere by foot. I had only been walking for an hour before my feet started to kill me. I guess that's also the consequence of walking a long while, in a pair of converse. Not my brightest idea, I'll give you that. I seriously considered hopping on one of those town buses at one point, but ultimately decided against it because this was a journey, my journey. And I was not about to tap out so easily because my feet were hurting.

After I split ways with Frank nearly an hour previous, I was surged with this feeling of determination. I was determined to make it to the next town by morning, I was determined to find a motel to shower and sleep, and I was determined to make the best with what I've got, given the circumstances.

For the past few minutes I've been kicking a pebble down the road with me. I didn't want to pull out my phone and listen to music.

Actually I did.

But I was afraid I would use up all my battery and be stranded in an unfamiliar place with a dead phone. Or that once my phone was turned on I would have to face reality and see all the calls I might have or might have not gotten. Either way, listening to music was out of the question, unfortunately.

Thus, kicking a rock down the road to keep me entertained on this otherwise boring and lengthy walk i've partaken. Before I left the station I flipped a coin that I had in my money jar, heads I would go north, tails I would go west. It subsequently landed on heads, so I am on my way to the next town over according to Google Maps.

Green Leaf, Louisiana. Population: uh i'm not really sure because not a lot came up on the town. For it being so close to New Orleans, I had never heard of it or heard of anyone who had visited. But that was fine for me, I needed a fresh start. And what could possibly be better than a fresh start in a town you have no clue about?

Kicking the pebble down the road had truly kept me entertained. However, I was still aware of my surroundings because I am not oblivious. I am a young girl walking on a desolate road, by herself at dawn. Once again probably not my brightest idea ever. But I was confident in myself, I believed I could defend myself if it came down to it. I should know, seeing as though I have had plenty of practice in the past.

I glanced down at my watch, 5:17 am. I had been on this trek for almost two hours. I was starting to think that I surely had to be close to Green Leaf. In the near distance I had spotted what looked like a steep hill.

Great. Just what my feet needed.

I assumed once I was across the hill, that Green Leaf would just be on the other side. Or at least I hoped. By this point my feet were aching and the sun was due to rise within the next hour. And simply put I was exhausted, running on about an hour's rest was certainly not cutting it.
