"I wish you were a stranger I could disengage

Just say that we agree and then never change

Soften a bit until we all just get along

But that's disregard

Find another friend and you discard"

As I turned the keys in Bev's car, I was instantly met with a wave of nerves. Harry had come to the diner just a few minutes previous. He was visibly annoyed with my presence and the fact that Lucas and I had stayed at the diner longer than when it was supposed to be closed.

I knew the route back to Bev's perfectly fine, it was a short drive and one that I had not done many times but I was great with directions. I didn't need Harry's assistance in getting home and I certainly didn't need Harry to comment on my driving skills in any way.

Which I am sure would have happened if I had followed him back.

I sat in the car a little longer trying to avoid the inevitable. But it became clear to me that I needed to get out of the car and go inside. It was not like Harry had the power to kick me out of Bev's home.

But I am sure he had some type of influence over Bev. It was his grandma for christ sake.

But Bev was trusting towards me. Plus I had nothing to be untrustworthy about. If Bev was curious about anything, I would try my hardest to answer truthfully. Even if it was about where I came from.

I would try.

A knock at the drivers side window startled me from my thoughts. I quickly turned the headlights off and got out of the car.

Instantly I was met with Harry's piercing green eyes. The sun was currently setting and cast a golden glow over Harry, his eyes were more vibrant than normal because of this.

"Sorry." I said in short. "I was lost in my thoughts."

"Figured. Gram has made dinner, she wants you to join us." He explained to me in an annoyed voice, like always.

I was shocked Bev wanted me to eat with them. "Oh that is okay, I don't want to impose."

"No. She said she wants you there. Don't turn down a meal from her." He explains to me.

I can tell he would rather watch paint dry than be conversing with me. But it was clear that he was only telling me to join them for dinner because Bev asked him too.

"Okay." I agreed.

He turned and started walking towards the front porch, I trailed behind him and watched his gate as he walked. He had a slight limp. It wasn't terribly noticeable and the only reason I noticed was because I was watching him walk awfully close.

Harry was so interesting to me because he was so nice to me when we first met. I know I must have offended him when I turned down a ride from him.

I hurt his ego.

He must not be told 'no' often.

Harry and I climbed our way up the red brick steps that led to the beautiful oak door. I was still in awe of how beautiful Bev's home was. And to know that her husband built it is quite impressive.

As he reached to open the front door I finally broke the silence between us, "Bev mentioned your grandpa built her house and yours."

"Yep." He says back coldly, I noticed his shoulders tensed when I mentioned his grandpa and he didn't even try to open the door. He just stood there with his hand on the doorknob.
