Beth's Pov

I went to the laundry room quickly hoping I wouldn't run into that cop again and found him still ironing scrubs. He looked up at me and told me hello.

"We have to get out of here. tonight. Are there any nearby exits on the 1st floor?"

"There are but they have people on watch. I'm pretty sure that we could go down the elevator shaft though. We would need the key that was in Dawn's office to get through all of the doors that lead to the elevator."

"Do you think you could distract her so I can get the key?"

"I can try, but you're only gonna have a 5 minute window so you're gonna have to get in and get out."

"Okay. I can do it. We leave once it gets dark.Do you know where any weapons would be?"

"In the armory but it's too risky. They have shifts and are constantly watching. I know Dawn has a gun in her office."

Sighing, I said, "I guess I'lll have to find that one. What about a knives? Do you have one?" I really hoped he did because I can't take out a lot of walkers by myself.

"I don't. I've tried to escape so many times that they can't trust me anymore." "Damn it. Well I have to find that gun. You're gonna have to distract her because she's gonna walk in on me."

"I will. I'll go find her. She is doing watching other doctors work on patients. Like I said I can only guarantee like 5 minutes. So hurry." I'll try my best.

I started walking down to the office to find the gun and key. I tried my best to hurry. I saw her desk all neat and polished and started checking drawers. The key was the priority but I really needed that gun. In her second drawer I saw it. A small key with a green key chain. Now all I needed was a weapon.

Where would you keep a gun? It would have to be easily accessible right?I checked in all the other drawers. As I was checking the last one there was a loud creaking noise. I was silently praying that no one hear me because I was still with out a weapon.Too bad the drawer was empty. There was a dresser pushed up against the wall. On the corner of that dresser was a gun and a holster. There wasn't any extra ammo laying around and I didn't have time to check for more.

I am gonna have to shoot straight and hope that 10 bullets would be enough to get me and Noah alive. As unsuspiciously as possible I snuck back out of Dawn's office. I passed Noah as he was talking to an officer and went to my room. I waited for him to come talk to me. "Did you find everything? Did she see you? I tried really hard to keep her talking but she kept saying she needed something and then she left."

"No you held her off long enough. I found this" I showed him the key, " And I found this pistol. Only 10 bullets."

"Well I guess we have to make them count."

"I guess so. So we should probably leave in an hour or two."

"Yeah it needs to be dark for this" he agreed.

We formed a plan. We would leave for the shaft once the evening policemen where on break, so that left the hallways empty for about 10 minutes. Then we would go down the shaft and sneak out of the fences. If things went bad and one of us didn't make it we both promised we would come back and get each other as soon as possible. After everything was all said and done we waited. It was just silence. I had to mentally prepare for what we were to do. I had to be willing to kill people. That's something that the old Beth Greene wouldn't have been able to do. But I'm not the same as I used to be. I'm a survivor. I'm strong. And I will do whatever it takes to find Daryl.
