"in the end, nobody is in the right. everyone is simply trying to stay alive."

RAIN POURED ON THE PAVEMENT AS TWO PAIRS OF FOOTSTEPS PATTERED ALONG. A young girl held on to her caretaker as they walked in the rain.

"Do you see anything in particular? Anything that stands out?" a woman's voice asked as the girl clung on to her.

"These people look sad. Why are they sad?" the girl asked.

"Because this is not mercy as they have been convinced so. This is not tolerance, and perhaps they understand at least that much." the woman replied.

The girl didn't say anything after that solemn statement. She was young, only nine years old. She was taking a moment to process the words.

"We're lucky, don't forget that. It is your choice whether or not you fight for our freedom and in turn theirs. It is also your choice if you chose not to fight for these people because nobody in this world is truly innocent."

Another moment of silence ensued. The pattering of the rain seemed to lighten up for a moment.

"You can choose to simply stand by in humble cowardice and pass the responsibility to the next person, as I am doing with you. However, I think the chain of being afraid has gone on long enough."

They stopped walking and looked over a bridge into the rippling water of a river.

"The responsibility of bringing justice is left to you, Honey."
