Miranda walked through the house, trying not to think too much about her husband-slash-housemate.

Ben took the four of them to dinner yesterday night, and he'd been the perfect gentleman. He opened the door for her, pulled her seat back, and paid for it. He was extremely interesting to talk to, and the kids loved him. She loved him.

It didn't hurt that his taste in food was good too. The restaurant they went to was Italian, and expensive. She'd protested at first, but he insisted that his buckets of money helped. She'd laughed at him.

Joey and Tuck loved the restaurant too. They'd wolfed down the food before Miranda could even say 'slow down.'

After Ben confessed that Joey was adopted, there were little things she began to notice. The boy stood a little low sometimes, very unlike the older Warren, and he had some quirks that she wasn't sure came from, like, making his knuckles pop, and fiddling with his fingers and biting them when he was in deep thought.

When they first met, Miranda thought it came from Ben's ex-fianceè but the fact that Joey was adopted, made it clear that those habits came from his biological parents.

"Does he know?" Miranda asked, playing with Ben's fingers that were connected to hers.

After he confessed about Joey's true parentage, they laid down together in bed, with Ben tracing circles at Miranda's hip, while she stared down their interconnected hands.

"No." Ben said, simply. "I… I don't want him to know yet. I don't even know how to tell him. What if he found out, and he realized I'm not really his father?"

Miranda hummed. "You're his father. No blood test is going to change that."

He smiled and looked at her straight in the eyes. "Thank you, Miranda."

He leaned in and took her lips in his in a sweet dance of tongues.

They pulled away, their heartbeats in tune. Ben put his forehead to hers, and whispered, "I love you."

"I love you too."

Miranda smiled as she recalled the moment. She meant every word. Joey might not be his blood, but that didn't mean shit. Ben raised the boy, and genes do not always represent family.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Ben's voice came from behind her.

A smile instantly went to her face as his arms went around her waist. She didn't have to move or look at him. His presence made her relax easily.

His lips touched her cheek and a shudder went through her body. She turned around and put her arms around his neck. They swayed a little as she looked into his eyes. "So? What are you thinking about?"

Her smile went wider. God, she really loved this man. She looked down, "Just someone."

Ben raised an eyebrow. "Someone? Do I know this guy? Should I be jealous?"

"Would you be jealous of the man you look at in the mirror?"

He chuckled and cupped her cheek. "That guy, huh? I heard he's handsome."

Miranda rolled her eyes. "You think too much of yourself, Benjamin Warren."

He flashed a million-dollar smile that made her weak in the knees. Good thing he had a firm hold on her, or else she'll melt in a puddle at his feet. "It's true, isn't it?"
