THE LAST SONG

A song, so romantic, filled the air.

Then everyone stood to find their pair.

He glanced around, looked for the girl,

As butterflies in his stomach did a twirl.

He's neither good in basketball nor in Math.

He doesn't like dogs, or even cats.

But there's one thing that makes him good,

It's finding her from where he stood.

A step forward was hard to make,

But it was the path he has to take.

He took a deep breathe as he walked,

She was standing on the corner, while she talked.

"M-May I have this d-dance?" He stammered,

He looked foolish, but she knows he's eager.

It took her a moment to say it's fine,

And then she added, "Pleasure's mine."

Their hands intertwined, as they reached a place,

A place so warm, but not in blaze.

They positioned themselves, ready to dance,

Then the song trapped them in a beautiful trance.

He just looked at her, overwhelmed with joy,

She caught his eyes as she smiled with coy.

He realized how much he loved her

The girl who once stood just over there.

He liked her from the past, present, and future,

Challenges are set, but he's ready to endure.

If the prize that awaits him is her heart,

He'll live everyday, trying to fight.

There was always a distance between them,

But that was untill this time came.

He's standing right now, dancing with her,

A risk was the last thing he ought to bear.

He purses his lips, and bats his eyes,

Leaning over, as he tries,

To capture her heart with all his might,

And then he plead, "Please hold on tight."

But she stepped backward and looked away.

A minute passed, though it seemed like a day.

Tears found their way as she say they don't fit,

And he said, "Let's cherish the song 'till the last minute."
