The sound of seagulls rings in my ears. I breathe in the fresh summer breeze while listening. I want to go home, I think to myself. This island was not interesting 5 years ago, and I don't expect it to be any more interesting now. I start to walk off the ferry pier. My suitcase rumbles loudly on the wood deck as i drag it unwillingly behind me. God this summer is going to SUCK.

The second i step out of the grand Fort Pinta entrance, i spot a cheerful, red haired woman, waving at me. "Y/N! Over here!", she shouts lively. Aunt Elisabeth. Still hasn't changed one bit I can see. "Hi!" I shout back, faking a smile. I have become very good at that for the past years. Don't get me wrong, Elisabeth is very kind, but I have an overall problem with Jorvik itself. All the horses, there's nothing to do, it smells like the countryside. The only positive thing about this place, is my childhood friends. We are a group of five girls but i'm the only one who doesn't live here, which sucks a little. Elisabeth open her arms wide and capture me in a drastic hug. She tightens her grip around me so much, I almost can't breathe. "So good to see you darling, you've grown so much!". Her smile is so genuine it makes my real smile come out. I look around for her car but I can't see it anywhere. I wonder if she walked all the way from Valedale to here? "Don't you have a car you came with?" I ask. Her smile fades a little bit. She laughs nervously and pulls herself away. "About that... I know horses aren't your thing, but when it comes to transport they really aren't all that bad? right? It has a carriage, so you won't have to sit on the horse itself!" she spits out the words as if she's in a hurry. Her eyes are shining brightly, and I don't want to change them. "Don't worry, as long as i don't have to ride the horse, I'm fine.". The wide smile comes back and she does a quick jump of happiness. "Thank god! trust me, I will take a car next time. It's currently on reparations." She says and grabs my hand. We walk toward the carriage.

Aunt Elisabeth's cottage is beautiful and covered with plants and flowers. It suits her personalty really well, but it's not like I can spend my entire summer inside her house. I wonder if any of my friends are home, or if they even remember me. Okay, that might have been a little dramatic, but I haven't seen them in 5 years. "I'll go get my car from reparation, why don't you go outside, get a coffee and revisit old memories." Elisabeth said before she mounts her horse and ride away. I stay in place, not quite knowing where to start. I spot the coffeeshop nearby, where we used to hang out and get every sweet thing on the menu. My mom transferred money over to my account, so I'll probably be buying a lot of things I don't really need. Let's make my first purchase, a doughnut at the coffee shop.

I take a seat on the outside of the café. Everything is just a minute walk away in Valedale, you can see every building if you just turn around, therefore I like sitting outside. I hear the ringing of the tiny bell inside the café. The sound of a door opening. I turn around to see a blonde girl in a waitress uniform. She's holding a glass of water in her right hand, and my pink, sprinkled doughnut in the other. "Table 3, here is your order", I recognize her voice. That soft and sweet voice. Every time I heard her speak, my whole body shivered. Suddenly all the memories are coming back. "Anne?" I ask and turn around. Her eyes widen and she smiles. She's glowing, just like I remember she used to. When I am the one who makes her eyes sparkle like that, it really makes me feel special. Anne puts the food down on the table and jumps in my arms. It comes as a shock to me and all I can do is let her lay in my lap, squeezing my waist. She giggles as she stands up to look me in the eye. "I don't think you understand how much I've missed you, y/n" she says. "I.. I agree. I mean, I've missed you too!" I struggle with getting the right words out. I didn't expect her to be this exited to see me. Her smile is so bright. Anne has always been one of the prettiest people I've seen in real life. She could be a model. "Why the fuck didn't you tell us you where coming? How long will you be staying? I have so many questions for you." She drags the other chair out and sits down in front of me.

A car drives past the café making loud gravel sounds. I turn around to see Elisabeth's head stretching out the car window. "I see you're already reuniting with the place!" She yells. I blush and look down. Anne giggles. "Do you have any plans for this evening?" She asks. Obviously I don't, but whenever she asked this question, she always dragged me into something if I said no. "I just came here today, so probably just pack out the rest of my stuff and chill with Elisabeth." I answer, trying not to look suspicious. "Okay? That sounds pretty boring. There is going to be a houseparty in Firgrove, you know, the neighbor village. It's just sad to stay at home when all of us are going to party." She says, mocking me. Of course she knew I wasn't actually occupied. A party doesn't sound so bad, since I'm staying here the entire summer, the least I can do is to get to know more people. "Fine. Will Alex, Linda and Lisa be there tho?" I ask. She smirks. "Duh, I kinda already texted them you were coming.". Of course she did.

Anne is laying in my bed, swinging her feet back and forward. I spot her in the mirror and we make eye contact. She smiles. My cheeks heat up and I turn all red. It feels so natural to just spend time doing nothing with her. I open up the matte lipstick and begin to focus. "Have you become any better at doing your makeup, y/n?". Her lips form a smirk and she sits up in the bed. Her arms open and she waves at me to make me come over to her. "Let me do your lipstick" she says. I get pulled down onto the bed and before I can think, she sits on top of me. Her smirk is making me blush. Her hair tickles my face as she bends down, tracing the lipstick carefully. "Open your mouth a little" She says, staring at my lips. I open them up, but they are incredibly dry. If I lick them, the lipstick Anne did on me will get smudged. She squints her eyes to concentrate on getting the lipstick all the way to the inside of my lips. I swallow. "All done, look in the mirror." She says. Finally, I can breathe normally. The reflection shows no flaws and Anne is smiling proudly. Suddenly, Elisabeth storms through the door. I jump. "Oh my goodness y/n, you look wonderful!" her hands squeeze my cheeks. "Sexy, right?" Anne says. I look over my shoulder in surprise. Sexy? Anne winks. "Time to go, don't want to be late." she says. Elizabeth lets go of my face.
