Colorful lights are flying around and the music is so loud I can barely hear Anne speak. "Let's go get a drink" she yells and drags me across the dance floor. We bump into people, but all of them are too drunk to care. The kitchen is full of people making out and swaying to the music. The table is filled with drinks and soda. Anne grabs a beer and opens it. "Cheers to you finally coming back", She chugs half of the box and breathes out in delight. I can't help but chuckle. Alcohol has always been her weakness. It won't surprise me if she becomes an alcoholic when she gets older. I grab a cup and look for what to drink. I pour something orange in it, and cling it against Annes beer. "Shall we dance?" I ask. She nods and begins to walk toward the living room.
The bass makes the floor shake, and when people jump it feels like you're going to fall over. Anne is jumping around with her eyes closed. She doesn't care if anyone judges her. I envy her. As the song ends, the entrance door opens. A tall man in fancy clothes walk in. Everyone's heads turn around to look at him. The music comes back on, but nobody takes their eyes off him. He walks in to the room with a smirk on his face. Girls start to gather around him quickly. I look at Anne, but she's staring at him. It doesn't look like he's our age, wearing sophisticated clothes like that. I tap Annes shoulder and she turns around. "Do you know him?" I yell and point toward the man. "Yeah, kind of. Everyone knows who he is because of his job" she yells back at me. His job? Is he rich or something? That must be why all the girls are gathering around him. "He's a circus director, he came here a year ago and everyone became obsessed." Anne talks about him with a passionate tone. Circus director. I laugh and look at him. "Should we talk to him?" I ask. Her eyes light up. Seems like he has caught her as well.
We dance discreet over to the group of people. Anne starts to walk faster and faster toward him. He looks up at her as she enters the circle of girls. I see his mouth saying something, but the music is too loud. I stand behind Anne to not gain too much attention. "Is that your friend? The one who didn't know who I was?" He asks. His voice is dark and seductive. Everyone giggles at his statement. "Yeah, her name is y/n. She grew up here but I don't blame her for not knowing you." Anne says, trying to provoke him. "Ooh, really?" He grabs her chin and stare into her eyes. My heart stops for a second. "So teasing" he smirks. His hands let go and grab Annes hand instead. "Come join me on the dance floor". Not even a second passes, and they are already spinning around in the middle of the room.
I end up standing alone by the wall, staring at them. I take a large sip of my drink. This was to be expected. This is why I hesitated on going to the party. She always leaves me alone. She always runs off with some guy. I take another sip. The man is grabbing the sides of her waist and staring deeply into her eyes. I don't even blame her for leaving me in this corner. I blame him, for taking her away. I chug the rest of my drink and slide my back down the wall to sit on the floor.
The lights are flying around everywhere. Red, yellow, green, purple. The music is so loud my head feels like it's going to explode. I try to stand up but I realize I'm laying in a completely different room than when I last opened my eyes. It's foggy. The floor is very warm, but hard. I am in the bathroom. Why am I here? It smells like mens Chanel perfume. My arm is so weak I can barely lift myself up from the floor. "Do you need help standing up?" a male voice says. I rub my eyes. He grabs my arm and drags me up so that I sit on the side of the bathtub. I look up, and now that I see clearly, my eyes squint in distaste. "You don't look too happy" He says, smirking. It's that motherfucker, who took Anne away in a split second. Why am I in the bathroom with him? "Before you get the wrong idea, Anne told me to carry you up here. You fainted." He stands up and looks at the door. He has hickeys on his neck. My heart skips a beat. Who made them? I don't even need to ask myself that silly question. Anne did, obviously. So when I fainted, they went and hooked up before bothering to help me. "Now that you're awake, I'll go back downstairs" he grabs the doorknob without looking at me. "Wait!" I yell. I don't have anything to say, I just wanted to scream at him. He looks back at me with an annoyed look on his face. He tilts his head. I stand up. "Who do you even think you are?" I take a step forward. "The amazing Ydris, of course" He takes a step as well, mocking me. "But you are from the city, and must be way more known than I" he pats my head. I almost gagged. He is so self centered it makes me sick. Why can't Anne see that he isn't even worth a hookup? "If that was all, farewell." He lets go of my head and walk out the door. Yet again, I'm left alone.
