"The body is over here. I'm surprised he dumped the body off in the same alley as the other three, with the police presence and all." A tall, heavy man wonders out loud while guiding Reid and I to the child's body.
Reid and I walk side by side, quickly pulling on our gloves. Well, Reid doing it quickly, I struggle... again. "It's probably a part of his ritual, something he can't stray from," I say as Reid squats down to the body.
"Same as last time, clean, clothed, drugged," Reid mentions as he uses his left pinky to move along the child's arm. "She has marks on her arms..." he murmurs.
I kneel, avoiding the possibility of losing my balance and embarrassing myself two days in a row. "She has marks on her neck too, look."
Reid removes in hand from around the child's arm, moving his fingers to brush her hair away from her neck. Our eyes meet briefly, both of us aware of what the marks mean.
"What's on her arm?" I whisper to Reid, trying to keep the conversation between the two of us and not the detective standing before us.
Reid shifts to her arm again, lifting it to examine the dark coloring. His eyebrows furrow and his eyes look confused.
He moves, putting her arm gently on the ground, and moving his hands to her shoulder and torso. "I need to see her back." I look at him confused but oblige to pulling the girl's shoulder towards me.
"She was dragged," Reid announces, pulling the girl's shirt back down and setting her gently onto the ground again.
I rest my hands on my knees, looking at the girl with pitiful eyes.
"What?" The detective asks.
I sigh, not excited to tell him the gruesome news. "She was dragged," I direct my attention towards Reid, "call Hotch and let him know. They'll want to check the other bodies." Reid nods as he stands, pulling his phone out and walking away from the detective and I.
The gruff detective rests his hands on his hips, displaying his unrest. "She was dragged? Is that it? What about the Mark's you guys talked about, the ones on her neck."
I stand, pulling myself from the ground, dusting my dress pants and white button-down off. "The kid fought back-"
"How can you tell?"
"Her nails are broken and bleeding and her hands are all scratched. Plus, the unsub choked her. I'm unsure if that killed her, but that's a clear escalation from the unsub." I pull the blue gloves off my hands, messing with the fingers of them as I talk.
