trigger warning: bullying
this was lowkey a vent so proceed with risk aaaaaaa

It was a nice day today. Walking up to school, you realized you were running late. You open the door to your class. What you saw inside was unexpected.

Everyone was laughing at Toko. They were making fun of her and physically hurting her. Toko looked like she was about to cry. You were shocked. You shouted "Everyone, please stop!" but no one heard you. You tried getting closer to Toko, but when you put your hand on her shoulder, she pushed it off, stood up and snapped. "Shut up! It's not funny! I hate you!". She started running out of the room, and you tried to chase after her.

"She couldn't have gone far" you say to yourself. You looked in some classrooms, but ended up finding her in the school bathroom. She was crying and shaking. "Y/n... p-please help me" she said. You didn't know what to do. You went closer to Toko, careful to not pass her boundaries this time. "Are you okay? I'm here for you". Toko attempted to force a slight smile. "You don't h- have to worry about m- me y/n. I'm always gonna b- be like this. I've a- always been like this. A shadow. A ghost. I'm always gonna be seen as weird. I'll always hate myself. Nothing's gonna change. But it's okay. I always was a burden. I'm gonna accept this fact and I'll patiently wait for the end. I find comfort in writing so you don't have to worry about me never having anyone. Just, don't worry about me, okay?". Toko sounded like she was talking from her heart. Her stuttering was gone, like she was totally comfortable with saying all that information to you. It felt bizarre. "Toko." you replied, "I care about you. It gets better, I promise. Take care of yourself, please. I'm not the best at giving advice or comforting people, but I don't want you to feel sad." Toko started crying again, even harder this time. "T- Thank you, it m- means a lot. Please never leave me. I n- need you. Please just t- tell me I'm good enough. Tell me that it'll be okay." Toko started hugging you tightly, clearly holding back tears. "It's ok" you told her, "you can cry all you want, this is a safe place". Toko shed some tears, yet was also smiling. "I l- love you, y/n l/n. Like I really l- love you. Could w- we go out sometime?". Toko lets go of you, looking scared and anxious. "Of course I'll go out with you! I love you too, you're so important to me."

Exiting the bathroom, both of you blushing, you really wanted to skip school today. You really didn't want to see those bullies again. You also didn't want Toko to cry again. "Hey Toko?" "Hm?" "Do you wanna leave? It'd be better for our mental health." "S- sure, as l- long as the school's fine with it". You went to the principal's office and asked to leave, because you realized you needed a day off of school for mental health. The principal was really nice and understanding, so they let you two leave. You and Toko ended up going on a small date to feel better, while you called the bullies to confront them before you told the principal and the kid's parents the next day, so it all ended well.
