y/n's POV:

Today is the first day of detective camp. Basically we learn how to solve mysteries and stuff, while making friends and having fun in the summer. I just arrived and I'm looking at people I wanna be friends with. I look at a boy with dark blue hair. He looks kind, so I walk up to him.

"Hi! My name is y/n, and I go by [pronouns]! You seemed nice so I wanted to hang out with you!"

"Ah! My name is Shuichi Saihara... I'm the ultimate detective at hope's peak academy, but I just feel average"

"Don't worry! I bet you're an amazing detective!"

"I- Thank you..."

We hung out for a bit, and we got along pretty well. Turns out I share a dorm with him and another person! The other person is called Kokichi. He seems cool too, but Shuichi mainly caught my eye.

At night, we were hanging out at our dorm. Kokichi noticed I kinda had some interest in Shuichi, so he tried to poke as much fun as he could, and trying to make us play truth or dare and similar games.

Kokichi's so annoying.

I was kinda hoping for a "there was only one bed" trope, but no, this is real life. I have to be realistic.

In the middle of the night, I was woken up by Kokichi's soft nudges. "What the hell is happening...?" I thought. "Hey y/n. I know you like Shuichi. I can help you get with him~"

Those were not words I expected to hear at 4 am on the first day of camp, but here we are.

"Thank you Kokichi."

The next day, I was very excited. Kokichi would help me get with Shuichi, who in one night I've somehow developed a crush on.

I was the only one up in the dorm. Shuichi was still asleep, he looks so cute. I can't see Kokichi anywhere. Did he wake up early? I go outside. Big mistake to do that by myself, cause outside I see something terrifying.

The dead body of Kokichi.

I didn't know how to react. Yes, I've known them for a day, but they were my friend. Please be fake please be a lie-

I see Shuichi running behind me.

"y/n what's going on?- OH MY GOD"
"I'm sorry... This is probably my fault..."
"No y/n, this is in no way your fault, please don't overthink things! We'll investigate together and the killer will get what they deserve."

We investigated together for the rest of the day. Nothing. It was impossible to solve Kokichi's murder. It was... The perfect murder...

At night, in the dorm, we're all feeling really upset. I mean, our roommate just died and we couldn't find how it happened.

"Hey Shuichi?"
"Hm?"
"I know this isn't the most appropriate time to say this, but I like you. Kokichi was supposed to help me tell you, but now he's dead."
"y/n... I like you too. I didn't want to show anything cause we only knew eachother for a day, but s- since the feelings are mutual..."
