Keith's POV
I saw a look of realization cross pico's face, and I raised an eyebrow. He looked confused and upset, and I didn't know what was going on. It was kind of scary. I mean, I trusted him, but who knows if he's the kind of person to snap?
"Pico?"
I asked. He snapped out of his daze, his eyes locking with mine. Next thing I knew, he had my back on the counter his hands grabbing fistfulls of my shirt. I let out a startled yell, staring up at him with wide eyes. He looked so mad I couldn't quite pinpoint if he'd ever smiled before just by his expression alone.
"Pico, what are you doing? Pico!?"
I asked again, my voice shaking a little as he leaned closer to me. This was it. He'd earned my trust and now he was gonna kill me. I shut my eyes tight as I felt myself start to tremble. I was expecting the feeling of a gun against my throat any second now, but it never came.
He kissed me.
It wasn't like yesterday. It was soft... and salty? I opened my eyes as he pulled away, gasping as I saw tears streaming down his freckle-painted face. It was both beautiful and sad, seeing someone who acted so tough breaking down into tears right in front of you.
"I-i'm sorry, I just... I can't believe I didn't see it sooner."
He whispered, wiping his eyes on hand before leaning back against the table. I was still confused. See what? What happened?
"I don't get it...?"
I responded, getting off the counter and crossing my arms lightly. I was so lost... one second he looked about ready to murder me and the next he's gushing tears like a broken water pipe.
"Your ex girlfriend. Stacy. She left me for you. I was the guy she dated before you, but once she saw you I just... didn't matter anymore. She dumped me over a text of only four words, and then we never spoke again."
He responded. I gasped. I felt so bad. I felt like I'd ruined a relationship even though it was her decision to leave him. It was a little funny though. Both of her ex partners ending up hooking up after they break up with her?
"But its okay right? I mean you have me now right?"
I asked tentatively. His gray eyes locked with mine and my heart skipped a beat as he nodded, a weak smile crossing his features.
"Yeah. Yeah I guess I do. Sorry I freaked out a little there, I'm not super good at emotions other than anger and lust at this point."
He responded, pulling me into another tender kiss. It was so nice and loving, which didn't seem like the kind of kiss someone like him would give. I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling into it a little. He pulled away, keeping his hands on my hips as his lips parted a little.
He looked so torn, as his mouth opened and closed, like he really wanted to say something but didn't have the strength to do it.
"I.."
He began, clearing his throat. His hands moved to my cheeks and he smiled.
"I think I lo-"
He was cut off by the door opening. A little Asian girl walked in holding bags of groceries in her arms. She set them down, barely acknowledging Pico and I. Pico went bright red, letting go of me as he waved to her.
"Oh, uh, hi Nene."
