The morning was going by easily. Everyone was glad to see each other, compare tans and share losing V-cards over the summer stories. The teachers weren't tired of helpless students yet, and it was still sunny, as if fall and endless rain were still nowhere near.
Louis, Liam and Zayn were sitting with a bunch of other guys from their year in the courtyard, eating their sandwiches, the lunch break soon to be over.
'Hey Tomlinson, did you have a sleepover with your sisters?' A guy named Charles said, mocking Louis' painted nails, as two or three more lads laughed along.
'In fact I did, ain't nothing wrong with that, innit?' Louis said, head high and broad shoulders.
'Nothing wrong no... maybe you'll show tomorrow in a skirt too, you'd be very pretty Louisa...'
Louis couldn't handle that bullshit, and knowing that he could ko the guy in less than 15 seconds wasn't helping, because he would, and then he'd be handed yet another yellow card by the Headmistress.
'Watch your mouth Charlie, I'm warning you.'
'That's not cool at all, Charles, you should know better.' Zayn added, almost every lad agreeing.
'What are you gonna do about it fag...'
Louis' clenched fist was directly aimed at the boy's jaw but it never reached it. Some strong arms had lifted Louis from the ground, carrying him a meter backwards. A smell that was already starting to feel familiar made Louis react.
'Harry?'
'Me and Lottie were coming here to tell you we're in the next class together and we saw it all. I'm so sorry Louis, I shouldn't have painted your nails...'
'No no no, do not even for a second say that, I'm fine with painted nails, they're pretty. That shitshow of a boy is just a complete asshole, if you hadn't stopped me... thanks by the way, you're strong hey.'
Harry realised he was still holding Louis up, and put him down gently, dusting his skirt off.
'It's... it's fine. I didn't want you to get in trouble. We're telling the Headmistress, he can't go around throwing the f slur, he should know better, and it'll be on his record if he ever tries something similar again.'
Liam, Zayn and Lottie nodded in agreement.
'Yes, let's go now together, we've got this.' Liam said.
Liam and Zayn's faces were so sad to see right now, that's the reason they weren't out in school, they must be thinking. Louis didn't need anything else.
'Alright, let's go.'
The Headmistress office was such a calm place, not a thing out of place, filled with books and pictures of all the graduated generations.
'... And that's what happened Miss Golcrow.' Louis finished, fire still in his eyes.
'I see... First of all, thank you for coming in here to discuss the matter instead of turning the courtyard into a boxing ring, although I would have understood. Second of all, I hope you know that what Mr. Blackwell said is completely out of place and wrong, he will be lectured accordingly, oh yes don't give that look Mr. Blackwell, you are writing a 500 word paper on queer people rights and why they are important. Due tomorrow. No, I don't want to hear a word, I'll personally revise it myself. Lastly, I'd like for you to apologize to Mr. Tomlinson and his friends for your wrongful behaviour.'
'I'm sorry, Louis and everyone.' A taint of shame in his eyes, maybe he regreted it after all. Louis nodded in acceptance.
'That's better, you are all dismissed, thank you.'
