CHAPTER 29

People were running everywhere. The smell of hairspray and sweat mixing in the air. Little pointshoe taps could be heard in the background, Louis' world spinning in glittery costumes.
He had never been this nervous, ever. Not even when he had to fight with a guy triple his size who broke his nose, he continued fighting and won.
His blurry vision suddenly became focused. Making him hyperaware of himself. The long silky dress he was wearing, soft and slippery between his fingertips, the flowers in his crown intertwining in his hair, his eyelashes and lips felt heavier with the makeup on them.

Before he could spit out the words forming in the back of his tongue as his pulse was rising, two strong sweet hands grabbed his face.

'Yes Lou, you can do it.'

'I'm not so su-'

'I am, I am as sure you will do an amazing perfomance as I am that I love you.'

'Ladies and gentlemen, the show is about to start, please remain seated during the performance...'

'PLACES EVERYONE!'

'3, 2...'

The curtain started rising, the audience swimming in black, bright lights blinding Julio, who looked up and took a deep breath before opening his deep blue eyes.

'And thus with a kiss, I die! Or should I?
Should I die? For love? Oh why!
Why should I die when love is not for dying but for living!
Will I love from the Heavens above? If that is so, my destiny?
But is there a Heaven?
Is there a God?
Is there a God so cruel that would make me fall in love, to the most beautiful human, just to take him?
The same God that said love your brother?
Because I did! And look where I am now!
The heart I had, that you created from scratch, I gave to someone else and you took it!
Was it, your saying? To make me feel love just so I could understand the pain? Because I don't understand!
What is so wrong? About the way I love? If you made humans perfect by your image, why did you make me so I could love a forbidden love?
Did you tell them it was wrong? Will I not encounter you in Heaven, if I come along Romeo? Oh, my dear Romeo...'

[Julio kneels beside Romeo again, tears streaming down his face, holds him in his arms as he looks up again.]

'They say I will burn in Hell, but then I know you will take him with you, because he is nothing but an Angel, and I know you can see that above anything else. But then I will not come along, since I am a sinner, and sinners burn. And we will be forever apart. Like the Moon and the Sun. Lovers condemned to never reach each other again, running after each other, day after day, night after night, always aiming for the kiss, never finding the lips.'

[Romeo starts opening his eyes, moving his fingertips slowly, as the potion wears off, Julio doesn't notice yet.]

'But even the Sun, and the Moon lay down together sometimes, maybe the miracle of the eclipse will save us, maybe it's the hope of the damned, the two celestial bodies coming together, being one. Just for a moment, every few years. But if we become the Sun and the Moon, we will be forever, and moments between forever are enough for me. And the Stars will be our children, and we will still love. And we will guide the lost ones, during the day and during the night we will help new lovers navigate old paths. If that is our destiny, let's write it in fire forever, I love you enough Romeo, I love you enough for that.'

[Julio takes the dagger, aiming for his heart, but Romeo stops him.]

'Stop my lover, please.'

'Romeo? Have I joined you in Heaven so fast? Did I drag you to Hell?'

'No my love, you brought me back from the dark, the potion I took, it was a disguise, so we could take off, and live a life after everyone thought we didn't have anymore of it to live.'

'But you didn't tell me, I thought God took you, and gave you your wings already.'

'The only angel here is you, my Julio. You speak the most beautiful words. We were already in Hell, where people could not understand the truth of the heart, but I heard from a place where people are free, and their minds have no restriction, and we will love, a love that is good, a love that is true. And maybe in our journey, we will find more lovers who join the path, and slowly the world will see the pureness, and the truth of the different and will embrace it.'

'No more burnt romances on the hands of the unworhy, no more spilled blood over fair love. No more Hell.'

'Only Heaven by your side.'

[Romeo and Julio kiss sealing their destiny.]

The music starts. Romeo and Juliet from Prokofiev. The dancers take their places, and Harry starts the opening scene of the ballet with his Romeo solo. Leaving a consterned audience behind, tears and sobs could be heard on stage, no one knowing how to react. A single tear rolled down Harry's cheek as the strings intensified.

________
Hi everyone!!!!
I tried to write this with the passion I feel right now, which is... a lot. I hope it came across beautifully.
A little adaption was made, since it's Romeo who says 'thus with a kiss I die', but I wanted to give Louis the monologue so...
I really hope you enjoyed it!!! Just one chapter left!!! What will the audience say after the impromptu unexpected play? We'll see...

Happy pride month!!!!!!!
Love love love,
