The Aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts 1998

Draco Malfoy had enough of the wizarding world after the Battle of Hogwarts just a few months prior. He felt the need to escape from the Wizarding World itself and live in the Muggle World. Having a pure heart, refusing to kill Dumbledore even in fear of his own death, sharing a look of silent respect after the battle with Harry Potter who he had previously despised, he desired to avoid the Wizarding World as much as possible, not wanting any attention brought to him as being a former death eater.

At the time of his trial, Draco had been completely drained of all motivation of survival, ashamed of his family, himself, for becoming known as one of the death eaters out to rid of muggle-borns and half-bloods. He didn't feel true resent towards them, quietly he admired them. However, under the influence of his controlling father, Draco hid behind his hard front, in fear of failure, as the boy who had no choice. The court and judge didn't particularly resent the Malfoy family enough to lock them inside the cold cellars of Azkaban, they rather wanted information on all of the other death eaters' locations. Draco willingly gave the justice information, provoking most of his "fellow" death eaters at risk. Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, as well as their son, were one of the first to detach from the cult of Lord Voldemort. The justices did not consider them as large threats and let them free to roam. However, the most loyal of the death eaters were imprisoned in Azkaban for the rest of their lives.

Draco ran off on his own to live in the muggle world. Without telling anyone at all, he felt the need to escape. Escape from his hard front, escape from hiding who he was, who he wanted to be. In the wizarding world as a former death eater, he felt stuck, he needed to start over, and the best option was to fall back on the world he falsely expressed to hate the most. His cold ambiance restricted his ability to express feelings and emotions to anyone. In the past, spitting at anyone who showed anything else but their utmost respect for him. He wanted a companion, to belong somewhere, just as the golden trio, and he envied them heavily.

Draco moved to a London flat shortly after his trial, skillfully managing the plan so the Wizarding World would not linger after him. Learning nothing of muggles other than their disgraces, he found it difficult to view them as truly human, empathize with them, and having the same thoughts and processes as wizards. While viewing a small flat that happened to be advertised in the muggle paper, Draco snatched up the offer very quickly after visiting Gringotts to exchange his plentiful galleons into muggle currency.

Arriving at the flat, Draco approached a very skinny building that extended into the sky. He climbed up the small steps of the porch of the front door and opened the bright red door of the studio apartment briskly after fumbling with the metallic keys on a chain. He pondered how such a small metal rod with rooks could possibly allow muggles to feel safe and protected within their homes. Although the apartment was fairly new and furnished, Draco merely glanced at the furniture and walked towards his bedroom where he previously placed a small bed of his own. He dropped his luggage and solemnly sunk into the bed and laid looking up the white chalky ceiling. Immersed in his thoughts, he wondered if he were too broken for friendship, for love. Not that he would want to find another witch from the wizarding world to immerse his feelings to, let alone a muggle. He wondered if it were even possible that way, or what his parents would think of such an action. Their views on muggle-borns and half-bloods surely have changed after the Battle of Hogwarts, haven't they?
