Moving'
VELVET
Waking up from a long night toss and turn, I just wanted to go home. Yes I was an adult, a woman to make her own decisions but if this was any other time...as a Christian woman, I wouldn't have been there. The sun peeked through the window; at least it would melt some of this snow so I can get home to my girls.
The room was empty...no Hosea, no mother...just me.
I sighed and pulled the covers off me. I didn't expect the cold to hit me that way but it did causing me to jump back in the bed again.
I could hear laughter but I had my entire head covered by now. It was a deep one; I knew it was my stalker boss.
"What do you want?" I said from underneath the blanket.
He chucked again before speaking. "I brought you breakfast."
I could smell the bacon. Usually, bacon was enough to get me out of bed when I was a child, if it was really cold but now that I had to cook it for my own children, I usually didn't buy it.
Toughening it out, I released the blanket and let it fall to my shoulders. He was standing, fully dressed which was nice since all I ever saw him in was gym clothes.
"Are you opening today?" I asked as he walked over and placed the tray on my lap.
My eyes stretched to see the yummy choices I had to eat. There was bacon, eggs, waffles with strawberry and cream on top...did I mention bacon! He also put some peach juice on the side.
"Um...did you cook all this?" I giggled taking my finger and swiping some of the whipped cream on the waffle.
"I...uh, actually, my mother did before she left." He chuckled, pulling up a chair.
He sat down and I slowed down on my willingness to devour the food. I actually put my fork down and just grabbed the juice to get a sip from it.
"Let me guess..." He sighed. "You are slightly uncomfortable eating in front of me, because I'm so hot." He smirked.
I smacked my teeth and picked up the fork, said my prayer and started digging into the food. "I need to go home." I told him.
"Home...no, maybe later, my dad has my truck."
"Your daddy has your truck?" I snickered.
"Yes, my dad. What's with you girl...first you take my food and then you dissing the fact that I let my father drive my car. At least it's not the other way around...my dad don't let me borrow his shit." He joked.
"I have children." I told him.
He groaned and rolled his eyes which pissed me off.
"What's wrong with me having kids!? I was married, don't you know?" I reminded him, shaking my head.
"Don't worry, I don't mean harm by saying anything about yo' kids. Kids complicate shit though. You can't fuck...and you can't talk or fuck."
"Uh, would you stop it?" I pushed the tray away, regrettably. My appetite went south after hearing him say that.
