Song: Heartbeat Sound by Timer Crônometro Cronógrafo
In a forgotten kingdom by the sea, my Mate and I braved against the raging winds. The salt of the air clung to our loose pajamas, forcing us apart when our hearts wanted to be closer. It was poor weather for such a haunting occasion. But, the two of us didn't mind one bit.
We thought it actually fit the unforeseen conception of our budding relationship.
"You know, they say this is where the Gods had the First Marriage," his deep voice rumbled. We gazed at the Delaware coastline like the two strangers we actually were.
"I thought the Moon Goddess married him on a cliff," I replied. My long, silver hair whipped around us as the gentle breeze picked up. It was as if the wind was angry as it cracked against our goosebumps risen skin. Drawing my knitted cardigan around me, I dipped my toes into the damp sand. Forlorn heartbreak lingered within my bones.
"She did." His gaze burned my skin. I felt it even though my eyes never strayed from the browning sand. "Look behind us."
Taking careful consideration not to look at him, I turned around and stared at the fallen rocks. The crumbling of the land remained cemented in an earthly avalanche for all to see. "The cliff fell."
He hummed at my words, continuing to imprint my skin with his scorching, dark eyes. Tingles shot up my spine at the gentle brushing of his knuckles against mine. The heat that poured into my body from that simple gesture alone was unlike anything I'd ever felt. But it gave me little comfort to be felt.
No.
It only made my heart suffer even more.
Closing my eyes, I fell into the memory that should've been the best day of my life and surrendered to the rain.
Ignoring Pride's curious gaze, I dropped my bag and ran towards my destiny while our hearts sang out to each other.
Nothing mattered but the pull of the Mate bond tugging us together. My feet pounded against the cracked pavement as I raced through the streets. As a child I'd avoided the lines of broken walkways due to old superstition. But now, I trampled over them in the pursuit of the man I was destined to love.
Screeching to a halt, I breathed heavily. The sound of his quickening heartbeat was on the move now. Tuning out the nightlife sounds, I focused my hearing until I pinpointed my Mate's treasured song.
He was singing just for me.
And I for him.
Left!
Our hammering heartbeats sang the stirrings of destined ardor. I couldn't contain the excitement bubbling within as we neared each other. Grass softened the blows of my racing gait as I ran through the moonlit park.
