Monroe's POV
I probably should've considered the snow before letting myself get soaked in the rain, but it's not like we had much of a choice. Tony and I were already on our way underground to find Cap and his new old friend. While we waited, heat traveled through my body as Tony held up the hands of his suit toward me.
"You really do have everything in there don't you," I rhetorically stated. The elevator jolted as we came to a stop. I lifted the gate and waited for Tony to force the doors open. Stark unmasked himself once we caught sight of the two super soldiers. I followed close behind taking small, cautious steps.
"You seem a little defensive," Tony spoke first. Steve began walking toward us with his shield still perked up. Barnes had his weapon undoubtedly aimed at one of our heads.
"It's been a long day."
"You can say that again," I mumbled under my breath.
"At ease, soldier. I'm not currently after you," Tony shouts at Barnes who refuses to lower his weapon.
"Then why are you here?" Steve interrogated.
"Could be your story's not so crazy... maybe," Stark failed at his apology.
Steve's eyes averted to mine in confusion. I explained everything to reassure Rogers his agendas have changed.
"He received photos of a crime scene. The guy who was supposed to be interrogating Barnes was murdered by-"
"Zemo," Steve finished.
"Yeah... he's here to help this time," I looked over my shoulder to Stark, "I'll make sure of it."
"Ross has no idea I'm here. I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, I gotta arrest myself."
"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork." Cap lowers his shield and nods his head in understanding. "It's good to see you, Tony."
"You too, Cap."
'Thank you, I-'
'Owe me. I know' I interrupt Steve's incoming thoughts with a small smile. Meanwhile, Tony is still trying to convince Barnes we are no threat to them. With Cap's okay, he drops his hold as Tony leads the way. After walking through halls and turning corners, Tony was able to read heat signatures from his suit. My eyes glowed as I scanned the area of intrusive thoughts. I could only pick up one form of existence through brain waves, it was as if they knew how to block me out of their head
"How many?" the captain provokes.
"One..." I walk into a larger room with the boys and waited for Steve to call the shots. Electricity started running, assuming from the man who's trailed a path for us to follow him here. There were tubes surrounding the walls. The missing super soldiers. I failed to get a sign of life; only death
"If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep," Zemo's voice echoed through the room. "Did you really think I wanted more of you?" I stayed alongside Tony as Bucky investigated. Cap was tuned in to every word coming from the enemy. "I am grateful to them, though. They brought you here."
'I can't get in his head, the barrier is too thick' I informed the captain and the billionaire internally. That's when a light turned in, revealing a square window that shielded Zemo's face. Tony aimed his repulsors as Cap threw his shield, but no damage.
"Please, captain. The Soviets built this chamber to withstand the launch blast of UR-100 rockets."
Before Zemo could continue, I sensed an uninvited presence. My eyes flashed as I looked over at the entrance. T'challa.
