The next morning Gryffindor's welcome was warm and animated, Harry smiled and waved, he clearly was in his element when it came to Quidditch, Mel grinned and waved to her friends too, she was feeling rather confident that morning.

"Don't let it get over your head this time," Harry teased her.

"Don't worry, Captain, my head's busy at the moment."

Ron sat down miserably next to them, Hermione walked into the Great Hall accompanied by Erick, both looking a bit reluctant to sit with them. Ron had been awfully rude to Hermione the whole week, and although she asked Mel what was going on, she couldn't find it in herself to start explaining, there was no way knowing the truth would make her feel better.

Erick, on the other hand, never hesitated to respond to Ron's insults with a few of his own, but Harry and Mel knew that provoking him would only result in a bigger fight, and now was not the time to have Gryffindors and Slytherins attacking each other, even if the Slytherin in question wasn't that popular with his housemates.

"How are you three feeling?" Hermione asked tensely, her gaze fixed on Ron.

"Fine," said Harry, then he glanced at Mel and nodded briefly. "There you go, Ron. Drink up."

"Don't drink that, Ron!" Hermione gasped.

"Why not?"

"You just put something in that drink!"

"Excuse me?" Harry frowned, Mel pretended to be confused.

"You heard me. I saw you. You just tipped something into Ron's drink. You've got the bottle in your hand right now!"

"I don't know what you're talking about," The boy stretched out his hand and Mel grabbed the bottle quickly.

"Ron, I warn you, don't drink it!" Hermione said.

"Stop bossing me around, Hermione," The redhead took the cup and gulped down its content.

"You should be expelled for that. I'd never have believed it of you!" Hermione said angrily.

"Hark who's talking," Harry said. "Confunded anyone lately?"

"We're just having breakfast, s'not against the rules, is it?" Mel raised a brow, her hand still very much holding a bottle.

Hermione stormed out of the Hall, Mel gave the bottle back and Harry put it away, Erick was livid.

"You really can't expect me to be quiet about this — I'm the Headboy!"

"My dear prince," Mel stood up and grabbed him by the shoulders. "Don't you trust me?"

"What does that have to do with this?" He asked in bewilderment.

"You know me," She looked up at him with her best puppy eyes. "Don't you trust my judgement?"

Even if he wasn't as stuck-up and strict as before, Erick still had solid morals, and watching the girl he was dating cheat on a match was clearly upsetting him.

"We're not doing anything wrong," She moved away from him, deciding to drop the act. "We did what we had to do," Then she added in a whisper. "Just like when you decided to remain quiet so McLaggen couldn't get a place in the team."

The older boy looked down at the boys, waiting for their answer.

"Erick, we're friends," Harry said, staring at them innocently. "But if you tell anyone I'll hex you, and Mel won't stop me."

"He means that," She agreed. "I'll help."

Erick threw one last hurt look at her.

"I hope your stupid game is worth the expulsion," He sentenced, turning back and walking to the Slytherin table.
