A Poisioned Heart

His heart once beat, nice and fair
Now it will never know it's hier.
What it thought, would be strong and just
Would bring him down, down to dust.

He thought he'd avenge her pride and soul,
But all his heart did, was turn to coal.
His anger, his vengeance, what he thought was strong,
Made his heartache stretch far too long.

With his reprisal, cold and dark
He left his child, alone while he left his mark.
His heart grew tired of the poison inside,
So it took him away to be with his bride.

His child left alone in this world,
He left the kid alone to unfurl.
What the man's heart thought would be just and strong,
Left his child alone, for far too long.
