the squirrel never left her home
she stayed near the small river
while the squirrel would roam
she stayed near river, not to quiver

one day she entered the river blue
to play, to wash, to be a squirrel
then she fell, calling "oooo!"
the river threw her to a hurl

the squirrel tumbled and fell
'till she could see the river no more
the fall seemed as if a well
the river went down, shook her core

the squirrel looked up at the land
different from her own place of rest
over she saw a mountain, panned
that path, squirrel thought, would be best

for the squirrel, the trek was hard
but the mountain pushed her up
above she saw the sky starred
the squirrel knew she had to stand up

to the top of the mountain, she made
squirrel looked across the new landscape
the land, she saw beautifully laid
squirrel knew this was the right escape
