It was potions class, and I was seated next to Draco, desperately trying to get peeks at his essay on alihotsy draught, a potion that caused the drinker to break out into fits of giggles. I looked at my own essay that was partially hidden under the potions book I had checked out from the library. I hadn't been able to finish it in time. I desperately hoped that Snape would simply forget, and it looked like he was about to, as he seemed to be finishing the lesson without a single mention of it. I felt a wave of relief and began to shove my things back into my bag, when that idiot girl Granger raised her hand so high you'd have had to have been blind not to see it.
"Yes, Granger..?" Professor Snape drawled.
"Um, excuse me professor, but over summer you had us write-"
"Thankyou, Granger, I nearly forgot." He responded. "Place your parchment on my desk before you leave, you are dismissed."
Granger sat there, looking so pleased with herself as she coiled up her long parchment and tied it with a small piece of twine. Weaselbee sat next to her with a look of dread on his face that somewhat matched my own, and Potter frantically flipped through his own potions book and copied as much as he could onto his own parchment.
She'll pay for this, I thought to myself, slowly growing more infuriated. She must have felt my glare from across the classroom because she looked up curiously, meeting my eyes.
"You'll pay for this, mud blood." I mouthed. Granger rolled her eyes at me and in the cool confident way of someone who had finished their potions essay on time, she sauntered up to Snape's desk and placed her down her parchement. And then she headed out the door, followed by Weasley and Potter.
Draco noticed something was off. "Are you alright, Pans?" He nudged my foot with his own. By now half the class had left and I still didn't know what to do about the essay.
"Yeah, Im fine..." I trailed off, Draco listened attentively. "Draco, I have a strange favor to ask you." Draco raised his eyebrows.
"Oh yeah?" he inquired.
"Yes.. Draco, I need you to smash the jars of pickled frog legs at the back of the classroom." I gestured to where they were. He looked at me quizzically, not wanting to anger his favorite teacher and also probably wondering why I would want him to do such a thing.
"Just trust me," I pleaded. "I have a plan." He still looked hesitant, so I did the only thing I could think to do. I kissed him, in the middle of the classroom, with tongue and all. A few of the students who remained in the classroom glanced over in curiosity. When I pulled away, Draco smirked, and thankfully Snape had been turned away from us. Still smirking, Draco walked over to where the pickling jars were at the back of the classroom and after shooting me a crooked smile, began to throw them on the ground one by one. Snape looked up sharply and began to reprimand Draco for destroying school property, but Draco kept smashing the jars. I smiled to myself, knowing that he wouldn't risk getting in trouble by his favorite teacher like this unless he really loved me.
I put my plan into action. I hurried over to Snape's desk while his back was still turned and hastily looked for the mud blood's parchment. It was easy to spot since it was the thickest roll out of the bunch. I grabbed my own parchment, and held my wand to the spot where I had written my name.
"Novis deflecto." I murmered, watching as the ink on the page rearranged into the words "Hermione Granger." I smirked in satisfaction, knowing that the ink on Hermione's parchment had also changed. I quickly looked over my shoulder to see if Snape was still occupied, which he was now that the pickled frog legs had started to leap away from him, and unrolled Hermione's essay just to check. And there it was. The name "Pansy Parkinson." Satisfied, I rerolled the parchment as neatly as I could and re-tied the piece of twine. Rolling up my own essay (with Granger's name at the top,) I gestured to Draco to follow me out of the room before Snape had the chance to take any points from Slytherin.
