I worked at one of the most popular pie shops in London. Sometimes the line would reach around the block!
"Pice of Pie" has been in business for years. It's always been a hit!
People think it's because of the variety of flavors we have, but I think it's because it's history.
Today was like any other. I got up, went to work, the end. Well it wasn't the end yet, I'm still busy making pie crusts in the back.
"George! Can we switch for a moment!" Allison yelled from the front of the shop. I quickly washed my hands. "Yeah sure!"
I ringed myself in as cashier and took orders. The line got smaller, and smaller, and smaller, until there were no more.
"We still have to stay here for another hour." John whined. Allison came up behind me and poked my arm.
"Did you see that guy who asked for an apple pie?" Allison whispered. "Blonde one?" I was cleaning off the counters. "Yeah, he told me to give you this." Allison handed me a folded sticky note.
"What is this?" I asked while unfolding it. On the inside there was a phone number. "Guess he has a good gay-dar." Allison joked. I scoffed while sticking the note into my back pocket.

I finally made it home after getting through horrible traffic. I hung my jacket and scarf in the closet by the front door. Outside was freezing cold but inside was warm and cozy.I reached for my phone as I sat at my island. Oh that guys number!
I unfolded the paper then quickly typed the number into messages.
You: Hello it's me from the pie shop
Unknown: Hey! We should get to know each other ;)
You: Are you asking me on a date???
Unknown: Maybe.
Unknown: I'm Clay btw
You: I'm George.
Clay: That's cute
You: Wow thanks
*Clay sent you their location*
Is he expecting me to meet him somewhere? We just met! What if he's some psycho?
You: How do I know you're not some old man who's trying to kidnap me
Clay: They only thing I would kidnap is that pie recipe
Clay: You should make me a pie again someday
You: I work tomorrow
Clay: Sounds good to me
Clay: Coming?
You: Sure...
I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. Maybe I should just bail on him. He seems like a pretty nice guy though, he likes my pie!

I was walking through the London snow. Everything looked like powder sugar was poured over them, or milk was dripped upon them. The location we're supposed to meet at is right by the pie shop. When I walked by it I could still smell the fresh ingredients and peppermint bark.
Piece of Pie was my happy place. When I was working I felt as if all my worries were lifted off my shoulders.
"Over here!" I heard someone yell. I looked over my shoulder to see a man who looked quite like the guy from this afternoon.
The streets were much more quiet from when I walked home. We met in the middle of the road.
"Hello."
"You're shorter then I remember."
We both laughed.
"So, that pie we talked about..." Clay started "Can we make it together? I'd like to learn from a professional!"
He wasn't half wrong. I was one of the top bakers. "It's closed so maybe this weekend?" I offered. "You have the key don't you?" Clay asked. I nodded.
"Let's just go in!"
I thought about it for a moment. One little pie wouldn't hurt anyone right? "Okay but we have to be careful." I stated.
We made our way towards the shop and stopped at the door. I always kept the key with me just in case. "What are you waiting for, unlock it!" Clay whisper shouted. I slowly inserted the key and turned it to the left, unlocking the door.
A whiff of pie crust entered my nostrils filling me with glee. "Okay so the kitchen is back here." I leaded Clay towards the back. "I expected a messy kitchen, this is pretty clean!"
"We don't give unsanitary pies to our costumers." I grabbed out everything we would need to make two pies. "I'll make one and you'll make one so we can compare at the end." I showed Clay his area.

It's been about 20 minutes and Clay is doing pretty well! He needs to work on his cutting skills though. I was having such a great time I forgot that I literally just broke into the shop. It'll all be fine, I hope."Okay so now we add the filling and-."
I was cut off by a loud bang coming from the entrance. Soon after my boss approached me. "What on earth are you doing in here?" He yelled. "I'm very sorry I just uh." He looked around and noticed Clay was here as well which made him jump a little.
"Who is this?" My boss asked.
"That's a uh, recent customer! He had some uh, questions about the pie he ordered earlier today!" I half lied. My heart was racing at insane speeds. I just got myself into big trouble.
"George hand me your key."
I did as told and placed the key in his open hand. He closed it and walked out.
"You're fired George."
