You all gathered around the man.
"I'm the new coach, coach Ukai." He said proudly. Everyone gasped loudly and Tanaka and Nishinoya were jumping up and down in celebration.
"Who's he?" You whispered to Kageyama, who was standing next to you.
"The name Ukai sounds familiar. I think he was the old coach." We both just continued to listen to the new coach explain the practice times. After he was finished it was time to go home, well, to Kageyama's house.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
You and Kageyama were walking home now, you were telling him about your day and he was just listening.
"Can you believe that?!?" Kageyama didn't say anything in response. You looked up at him and he still looked just as mad as earlier in the gym.
"You ok?" Still no response.
"KAGS!" He jumped a little and looked at you.
"What?" he looked back down at the sidewalk with an emotionless face.
"What's wrong? Is it still about that kid from earlier?" He nodded but kept silent.
"Well, you guys are going to be on the same team now so you are going to have to find a way to get along. You can't let it affect your performance on the team."
"I know, I know." He looked up at you and you smiled at him and grabbed his wrist and started running.
"Let's go get ice cream from the market!"
"But I didn't bring any money." He tried pulling away from your grip.
"It's ok. I'll pay this time, and you can pay for me next time." He nodded his head in agreement, signed, and ran with you.
You guys went into the market and went straight to the back where the ice cream freezer. Kageyama got a plain vanilla bar and you got a ______(favorite ice cream flavor) bar. YOu went up to the counter to pay, you reached into your wallet you pull out some money when you felt a tap on your shoulder. It was Kageyama tapping you, he was pointing at the cashier from underneath the counter. You look up and see the coach smoking a cigarette and counting the money from the cash register.
"Coach Ukai?" You asked for reassurance.
"Oh uh yeah that's me. You're the first-year manager, and you're the first-year setter." you both nodded at him.
"Well, it's nice to meet you officially then. I saw your confused look when everyone was excited about my name, I am the old coach Ukai's grandson."
"Ohhhh that makes a lot more sense." You both give out a small laugh. You go to hand him the money for the ice cream but he pushes your hand away.
"It's on the house." he smiled and bagged your ice creams.
"But just this once." he laughed.
"Oh well thank you! Have a nice night coach." you and Kageyama headed to walk out of the door.
"See you tomorrow morning coach!" Kageyama yelled on his way out of the door.
You two walked through a park as you ate your ice creams. There weren't many people there, only some older people and some people walking their dogs.
"How's your ice cream Kags?" You asked, teasing him with the nickname.
"Delicious, but it's Kageyama, not kAgS." you laughed and he gave out a small chuckle.
"Don't you ever get tired of me?" He looked at you with confusion in his eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean been forced to hang out with me ever since I moved in, and you never get sick of having me around?"
"I mean no, not really. I'm so used to having you around now I don't even think about it." you both continued to eat your ice creams in silence until you got to the house. He unlocked the door and you both walked in. You took off your shoes and placed them next to all of the other shoes.
"Hm, that's weird. My parents should be home by now." He walked over to the fridge and pulled off a sticky note that was on it. It read...
𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓯𝓪𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓘 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓰𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓷 𝓪 𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓽-𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓽𝓮 𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼 𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓹. 𝓦𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓫𝓮 𝓱𝓸𝓶𝓮 𝓫𝔂 𝓽𝓸𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓻𝓸𝔀 𝓪𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓷𝓸𝓸𝓷. 𝓣𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓮𝓻𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓵𝓾𝓷𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓼 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓨/𝓷 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓯𝓻𝓲𝓭𝓰𝓮. 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮, 𝓜𝓸𝓶 <3
She always had the prettiest handwriting but sometimes it was a little hard to read.
"Great they are gonna be gone," Kageyama said with a sigh as he rubbed his temple.
Both of Kageyama's parents worked at a large clothing corporation and frequently went on business trips. They weren't here often but Kageyama was never too bothered by it.
"Whatever it's not a big deal, they'll be back tomorrow." you started to unpack some of your homework.
"Let's go do our homework upstairs," Kageyama said as he grabbed a small milk carton of milk out of the fridge and headed up the stairs. You grabbed your stuffed and hurried up the stairs to follow him. You both enter his room and Kageyama sits down at the desk and you lay down on the bed. You were laying on your stomach with all of your homework laid in front of you when you felt someone lay next to you.
"What-" You were startled, but then you realized it was just Kageyama.
"Can you help me with this question, I suck at math." you laughed and grabbed the worksheet from him. it was simple algebra but Kageyama always struggled with school.
You ended up having to help him with his entire worksheet and when you got to the last question you realized he had fallen asleep. You slowly pack up your things carefully so you don't wake him. You quietly get up to leave the room when he grabbed your wrist and pulled you back down.
"Kags? I have to go do my homework. Go back to sleep." he didn't let go and kept pulling you lightly so you would lay down.
"Stay. Do it later." He said in a tired voice. You were confused why he was acting like this but didn't give it much thought and laid down next to him. He pulled you closer and fell back asleep, and before you knew it you did too.
He was so warm and being with him made you feel so calm.
