Narrator's POV:
After exiting the train, Emery had decided to just skip the sorting ceremony and head straight to her dorm to settle her stuff in. While unpacking, Emery couldn't help but feel a sense of both excitement and nervousness. She was excited because she was determined to make this the best year yet, but also nervous because there was always the chance that it would the worst year out of all.
Interrupting her thoughts, her room mate smoothly glided into the room without a bother in the world. Looking straight at her ocean blue eyes and the wild blonde hair that framed her face, Emery couldn't help but smile at her longtime friend, the one and only Luna Lovegood.
"Why hello there Emery! I have missed you terribly," The blonde said in her usual dreamy voice before she pulled Emery into a tight embrace.
Still engulfed in her hug, Emery replied, "I have missed you too! It feels like forever since I've seen you".
Though she may have not had many friends, Emery had always considered Luna a good one. They had been roommates since their first year and Luna had always managed to make Emery feel happy with her bubbly personality.
Pulling away from their embrace, Luna questioned, "I have only come to grab my glasses. Why aren't you at the ceremony?".
"To be honest, I just wasn't in the mood," Emery said as she put her hands in her back pockets.
While on her way out of the door, the blonde answered, "Alright then. I will see you after I suppose". Leaving with a dreamy smile, Luna left Emery to once again bask in her thoughts.
Even though it wasn't something she wanted to accompany her thoughts, Emery couldn't help but think about her encounter with the tall ginger just hours ago. The way he fell on her and the way his heavy breath felt on her neck made something within her flutter.
She quickly shook away the thoughts, thinking to herself, 'No No No. Stop it Emery. Why the hell are you thinking about that. You don't like him, Remember?'.
While she wouldn't necessarily say that she hated him, she was no where near fond of him.
Almost the opposite of herself, Greyson was a social butterfly, making friends with just about everyone, including the Weasley twins. Other than Emery, Greyson would definitely consider George his other best friend.
Never wanting to make Greyson feel as though he had to pick between her or George, Emery always was open to the idea of having George tag along in anything they did. However, little did she realize that would mean also having the other redhead accompany them.
*(I don't know if I make it clear enough but there it's sort of a flashback 👇)*
Her dislike of Fred Weasley began rather early in her time at Hogwarts. A few weeks into her first year, sitting on a chair, surrounded by a stack of books in the library, Emery was so absorbed in the novel she was reading that she didn't notice the silent firework set off and heading her way. By the time she realized, it was too late. She was harshly slammed into the bookcase behind her, making all of the books tumble harshly on top of her.
After pushing off the books, Emery stood up to only get in trouble and earn herself detention for the destruction of property. Furiously walking out of the library, she was soon after trailed by the redhead that set it all off.
While still chuckling, he began, "Hey I'm really sorry about that, I didn't mean to-"
Quickly interrupting him, Emery said, "Whatever, just get out of my way".
Looking like he was about to say something, Emery just shoved her way past him. Of course with her luck, on her way to her dorm, she ran into the one Slytherin that made her life living hell, Draco Malfoy.
Abruptly apologizing and avoiding eye contact, Emery tried to get on her way when her arm was pulled back, making her look back up into his grey eyes.
With a smug smirk on his face, Malfoy jeered, "Well if it isn't my least favorite muddblood," his eyes soon lingered on her arms, looking at the bruises starting to form from the books that fell on her. With his grin increasing, he continued, "Awe. . .What happen," He began cooing in a sarcastic tone, "Are you so pathetic that you had to try and give yourself hickeys? Because no one would ever want to kiss you, is that it? Hm?".
He let go of her arm and slightly shoved her aside before walking past her, but before she could even say anything, he turned and looked at her while still walking backwards, "You know, I think Muddblood is getting a bit tiring, I think Hickey is much more suiting," and with a smirk, he turned and left around the corner.
The next day, walking into the Great Hall for breakfast, she couldn't help but listen to the laughing and teasing coming around her from all sides. Even more, she couldn't ignore the new nickname that she had so unwilling received.
"Ayo Hickey!" "Awe. . . I Know you wanna suck me Hickey" "How pathetic".
Turning sharply back out, she could feel her eyes getting hot but refusing the tears to fall. She thought to herself 'You are stronger than this Emery. Crying is for the weak and you are not weak. Pull it together'.
Passing through the halls, she knew she had to divert the attention off of herself because she wouldn't be able to continue with the shame. Though maybe he wasn't the one that had started the nicknames or the rumor spreading around like a wildfire, Fred Weasley was responsible for making the bruises and getting her detention.
Before lunch had rolled around, Emery had snuck a potion she found into a drink right as she handed it to Weasley, making sure to apologize for her rude behavior the previous day. He accepted it with grattidue and before she knew it, he chugged down the beverage in little to no time.
In merely minutes of finishing the drink, a loud fart was release in the great hall, causing everyone to become silent.
Almost as loudly as the one before, another fart was released, causing everyone to point their attention over to the gryfindor table. A series of continuous farts were produced before everyone could narrow it down that Fred Weasley was the one producing the horrid gas.
Becoming a deep shade of red, Weasley stood and attempted to make his way out of the Great hall but laughter soon broke out because of the rather large buldge that hung in the back of his pants.
Before long, Emery was no longer the joke and found herself becoming old news with Weasley, AKA: Dookie, now the big headlines.
Looking back on the memory now, Emery couldn't have known that the one prank she pulled that day would cause a series of prank wars between herself and the red head.
She never actually hated the pranks in full honesty, but when Fred Weasley preformed them, it made something in Emery's blood boil.
Suddenly snapped out of her thoughts and memories, Emery noticed how late it became. Deciding that it would be best if she got a good nights sleep, she quickly got changed into pajamas and headed to bed, drifting to sleep with little trouble.
