sungchan silently sat on his bed, his leg bouncing up and down with nervousness. the day had arrived that he was expected to propose. as he played with his hands, a train of thoughts rode the rails in his mind.why?
why am i such a stupid person?
why did i leave her there?
why..
why didn't i just kiss her?
is it too late to tell my father?
no it is too late.
i can't escape this anymore.
i can't see her anymore.
it's better for the both of us.
it's better..
he sighed as he placed his hands in his hair, gently pulling it in stress. he wanted to tell haechan everything that happened, but he couldn't. this had to be a secret. if he told haechan, the whole palace would know within an hour.
he collected all the courage he had and stood up, slowly making his way out of his room. he had never felt more trapped in the large palace than now. the walls suddenly appeared to be closer to him as usual, the hallways being smaller, but never ending.
as he arrived in the entrance hall, he noticed the jeon already arriving. he held in his breath, feeling really tense. he slowly took small steps backwards until a voice stopped him.
"sungchan, you're just on time" his mother happily said. the young boy could only nod, feeling too nervous to talk, scared he'd collapse if he did.
as the doors swung open, revealing the jeon family, sungchan felt himself getting nauseous. "i-i'm sorry, i'm not feeling good, i'll be right back" he was able to softly bring out, running to the closest bathroom nearby.
he looked at himself in the mirror when he made it inside.
you need to get yourself together.
you need to do this for your kingdom.
a great king would do anything for his kingdom.
but i don't want to be a king..
he stared at himself in the mirror. why did he feel like this. it wasn't the end of the world. people would die to have a life like his.
he quickly washed his face with the cold water, hoping it would bring him back to his senses. he looked into the mirror one last time before drying his face and walking back to the scenery with the jeon family.

sungchans mother politely welcomed her guests on which her guests thanked her.
bom curiously looked around, hoping she would see her soon to be fiancé welcoming her, only to be disappointed by the fact that he wasn't there.
as the queen noticed, she smiled softly at her to be daughter in law. "sungchan said he didn't feel too well, he'll be back soon. why don't you explore the palace a little."
bom nodded with a smile, starting her own little adventure through the palace. she admired it's beauty as she wondered through the hallways. the big windows brought a lot of daylight and life. it was a magical scenery to look at.
after some time she arrived at the garden. she smiled at the place where she had first met her prince. she walked towards one of the benches and took place, enjoying the scenery as she waited for sungchan to arrive.
she noticed she had gotten lost in her thoughts when she heard a soft sob. she made her way to where the sound came from, only to be met by a crying girl embraced by a boy.
bom felt bad for the girl, wondering what had hurt her. "pardon me for intruding, but it wouldn't be me if i didn't ask if you were okay" she carefully brought out.
the girl looked up, obviously forcing a smile through her tears as she wiped them away. "i'm better now, thank you for asking." she told her.
bom smiled at her, knowing the girl probably still felt bad. just when she was about to introduce herself, she heard a familiar voice behind her. she turned around to be met by the prince she had wanting to meet.
"princess bom, welcome back." he welcomed her, bowing to her before carefully taking her hand and giving a sweet kiss on it. when he looked at her, his eyes slowly wondered to the people behind her. his heart dropped as he saw aera sitting there, renjun still an arm wrapped around her for comfort.
sungchan quickly looked away, thinking back at his thoughts.
"thank you, it's nice to see you again prince sungchan." bom said, making sungchan look at her again. she had a sweet smile. she slowly moved her head to look at the pair that was besides them.
"i've just met these two, would you mind if i spent some time with someone other than you for a bit?" she asked, taking sungchan by surprise. he tried to hide it, not wanting to ruin his cold image. he nodded, wanting to leave as fast as he could.
———————————————————————————
bom waved her goodbye as aera and renjun both left the garden, leaving bom on her own. she smiled to herself, happy she had found some people she could consider friends. it made her feel more at ease, knowing she wouldn't be all alone here.
sungchan looked at the box in his hand and took one last breath before walking towards the girl. she turned around when she heard footsteps coming towards her direction. she smiled, seeing sungchan walking towards her.
she had never noticed how handsome he looked, his face seemed perfect with the sun shining on him. she felt a slight blush appearing on her cheeks, feeling a little warmer. she knew what she came here for today, what would happen today.
sungchan looked around to see if people were around, noticing he was all alone with the princess. as bom stood up, sungchan stopped infront of her. he looked into her eyes, feeling really nervous. he swallowed one last time, before getting on one knee and saying the words he wished he'd never say.
"bom, will you marry me?"
