When you first said hello,
You set my heart on fire.
A fire so incomprehensible and passionate
that only you could fuel.
And you continued to feed that flame
that gave me the motivation
to be myself.
To love.
To live.
You were my light,
And I was your darkness.
And I will never forget the day
my heart shattered into a million little pieces.
When you told me you had to leave,
A little part of that fire
left with you.
And now, tears run down.
A cascade of sorrow.
Goodbyes ablaze.
But deep down I know
That goodbye is simply a word that means
"I'll see you again"
Just not for us in this world,
Destined to ashes.
