"Will you all calm the fuck down?"

There was a thick tension in the group. Three days ago, one of their last days learning about the heist, there was a screaming match between the team at 3 a.m. And now, everyone was either pacing or fidgeting waiting for the Professor to tell them their unit.

And Baby was having none of it.

She angrily strapped on the uniform and loaded herself with her weapons. Denver looked over at her hesitantly before walking over.

"Baby."

"What, Denver?" she snapped. The fight between them was on a constant loop in her mind. The things he said to her, accused her of, it made her sick just thinking about it.

"I'm sorry-"

Baby cut him off. "Grab your gun and do what you have to do." She turned around and walked away in hopes of being done with the conversation, but Denver followed her.

"It was 3 a.m. I didn't know what I was saying. That's all. Forgive me, please. Please," he pleaded as she continued to walk away, not stopping or looking back once.

As said before, Baby was a sucker for love. Her entire life she longed for something like that, something unconditional from someone who wasn't blood, not that her real blood gave her any type of love in the first place.

But she wasn't naïve either. She didn't throw herself to anyone who showed her a modicum of attention. She was smart and knew not to give her heart to just anybody.

Sure, she's a reckless spontaneity who loves to live in the now and be constantly on the move, but with love, she wanted to be patient. She was patient.

She wanted to get to know the other person little by little as well as letting her own walls come down. She wanted to be vulnerable and raw and shamelessly herself. And she wanted someone to love every bit of who she is.

And she thought that she did. That she finally found the type of love that they talk about in movies: where your heart races every time you see them, the constant butterflied fluttering about in your stomach, the way the whole world seems to fall away and it's just the two of them.

But then reality kicked in and knocked her off of the fairytale cloud she was staying in. You could argue that it was her fault that things happened the way it did.

But was it?

No. It wasn't.

THREE DAYS AGO

Baby and Denver were in their room together in the monastery. They were wrapped up in each other's arms, a feeling of bliss washing over them.

They were together, kinda. There was no asking the other out at a fancy dinner, or asking out at all for that matter, but they were together. He knew it, she knew it, everyone knew it.

They've known each other for almost 3 years now. Granted, 2 of those years they spent away from each other on the other side of the world. But when they were reunited a few months ago, it was like they just hit play. They picked up from right where they were before.

Which was casual flirting and the slow but steady growing feelings for each other starting to build.

And now, here they sat on their queen mattress, surrounded by paintings of the Virgin Mary, sensually making out.
