The Invisible Girl

The doctor's appointment

When she finally got home, Autumn asked her dad to sit down and talked to him about what happened at school, thinking it could be linked to what happened that same morning. Her dad must have seen how serious she was since he asked her to show him the black spots. They walked up to her bathroom and she went in the salt bath with a bikini on. After what felt like forever, she began seeing the black spots and her dad's wide eyes confirmed it wasn't her imagination. Her dad directly called the doctor to make an appointment for the next day, and when he came back, he said,

"The doctor told us to take a picture of the black spots and go to the hospital tomorrow morning so you'll have to miss school a bit." 

"Okay that's fine with me. I hope it's nothing serious." She answered him, worried.

The next day, Autumn and her dad both went to the hospital as soon as she was up and ready. They had to wait for at least 3 hours before getting called into a room. The doctor then said

"So I see you called yesterday because your daughter developed black spots on her legs when she took her salt bath? Did you take any pictures for me to see?"

"Here are the pictures. At first I didn't believe her because the spots had faded before i could see them, but when she showed me, they were really there." Her dad explained to the doctor. "She also mentioned she could smell things from far away now."

Autumn then continued her father's explanation by telling the doctor she was in a classroom at the complete opposite from the cafeteria when she smelled exactly what they were cooking. She specified she couldn't smell it before and didn't a have good sense of smell before that day. The doctor then said, in a worried tone, that he had never seen this type of patch before and that he'll need to run tests to see if anything could be wrong with her. All the testing he had to do took all day and when they were done, the doctor told Autumn that nothing was wrong with her and didn't really understand why that would happen. He sent them home so he could study them further and said he would call with his final verdict in a few days.

"Sweetie, the doctor called back and said nothing was wrong with you so maybe it was just the salt that made you have these" said her dad when she came back from school after a week of waiting for the call. 

"I guess I don't have to worry about that then. I'll miss my salt baths tho." she told him.

After that day, she stopped taking salt baths and took bubble baths instead. Time went by and she finally stopped worrying and thinking about the black patches that appeared on her legs when she went into salt water.
